It's not only crazy, it's a distinct advantage. Having the same offensive system 2 years in a row counts as continuity these days. So, while pretty much every about this next season is going to be harder, this is one small area where the Pats can find a advantage going into 2026.

Bills have the same OC and they are currently our main competition.

11 new OC's - thats a huge change over - mostly replacements for teams that thought the OC fell short of expectations ( 8 ) , with just a couple ( 2 ) being replaced because the incumbent OC left for other teams HC positions...

these are just for teams replacing the OC ... am i missing any here?

the one that is most puzzling to me is the chirefs bringing back Eric Bieniemy, replacing Matt Nagy...

the least surprising is the eagles replacing kevin patullo - the amount of disfunction in Philly for the 2025 season was comical at times

The younger generation has no idea what times were like back 20+ years ago where the turnover was rare. It makes you appreciate those eras even more. The question I'd like to know is why are these coaches getting less competent as the years go on? We're seeing the analytics take over where coaches are copying Dan Campbell going for it repeatedly on 4th down. Many of them get burned on it and cost them games. It cost Dan Campbell a trip to the Super Bowl in 2023.

The only time BB fell into this trap was in 2015 AFCCG in Denver. Had he just opted for FG's, there's a good chance Ghost makes them all and they win the game with the Brady/Gronk heroics late.

There were a few 4th downs I would've like Vrabel to have taken the points, but they got away with it.

Their OC became the HC, so they really don't have the same OC...

For me.. as a fan I never liked the HC calling the plays offense or defense.. sure veto a call or recommend a call here and there but.. it takes away the focus a HC needs to make important decisions on the field.. it also in my opinion negates the job of your OC or DC is that's the case...

100%... coaching was more on field... feel of game decisions made years ago.. defenses were much tougher.. offenses ran the ball and coaches coached hard.. relying less on need stats and more on the eye test and anticipation.

I've said previously Earnie Adams was the first analytics before it was even brought about.. he said himself he was meticulous about players tendencies, habits and used this in his whispering to BB.. never any mention of a nextGEN stat..

Ghost missing an extra point in the 1st quarter did not lose them the game. Adam Vinatieri missed kicks against the Panthers in SB 38 prior to making the game winner.

BB not opting for a field goal in SB 42 on 4th and 13 was also another blunder.

I think the point is that Bill did not trust Ghost. The next three SB's would show why. He was a major issue in big games.

I disagreed with Bill at least once about going for the 3.
But I'm just an Armchair chump.
He was the coach that sees the kicker EVERY DAY, so I was just squirming.
I'm a manager, I make mistakes...not every day, but I do for certain...
I don't care who makes the mistake, fix it, and move on.
Consistent mistakes are dealt with, but that's pretty rare.

I'm GUESSING he'd like some decisions back, I know I have, but whatever...I learned.

it's funny that the league had a 20-year case study on how maintain a winning program over time (yes, yes, I know, have the GOAT, ha!). Bill was very much about continuity and same system, but always open to innovating and change as needed. [and you could add Andy Reid and the Chiefs... Harbaugh to a lesser degree in baltimore] And these donkey franchises keep firing guys every other year and wonder why they are treading water. I really hope Vrabel is going to be with us a long time.

Because BB turned into 2001 Mike Martz where pride took over. Going for it on 4th and 13 was idiotic. Brady clearly freaked out on the play as well when the Giants didn't fall for whatever play they ran and pump faked multiple times before throwing up a low percentage deep pass.

The Giants defense was giving them a lot of resistance after their first TD drive and it was clearly frustrating the Pats. Teams also do uncharacteristic things when an undefeated season is on the line and/or things aren't going their way. Bruschi and Harrison admitted the pressure went up after each game they won. By the time the Super Bowl came around, players were playing "not to lose".

Ghost was 5/9 on field goals from 40-49 yards and 21/24 overall and made every extra point in 2007. That's a pretty damn good year. He kicked one field goal (which he made) against the Jaguars in the playoffs. He only played in one dome in the regular season at Dallas and made his only kick of the game which was a 45 yarder.

The coaching staff and players flat out choked that game away.
