2026 Draft: RT

Im looking at Dunker as a RG. Strong, nasty and smart. He’s a tackle but I think he will be better inside.
Mauigoa Is my first choice as RT but he might go a little to high for us.
Mauigoa looks like a monster at RT. Our left side OL is the weakest but the talent is there. Dunno where that guy will get picked but one of the latest mock drafts from USA Today has him going #3 to the Cardinals. Feels way too early for an RT imo and I don't feel it is realistic to move up to the top 5 for him.

If we move up to the 20's we might be able to snag one of Kadyn Proctor or Caleb Lomu.

Proctor is 6-7 366 so he's literally a man mountain. I mean just look at the size of this dude. Unlike Campbell, I doubt Proctor will have any trouble handling power rushers.

Scouting profile:

Another possible prospect to look at is Lomu from Utah. He's tall at 6'6 305. He's an athletic and highly rated pass protector but his run blocking seems to need improvement.

So who do you think the Patriots will draft to upgrade the OL? Do you have a favorite at the moment?

Ummm, we've been discussing g this for 6 months.

I jumped on the Monroe Freeling train October 3, declared him a binky 10/20 and my OT1 10/21, when no one was discussing him. aso I personally have a favorite. I would trade up to 20 or so for him, but project him to go 6-17.

Francis Mauigoa is as good, will also go 6-17 range (possibly even 3 to Arizona) but projects better inside, IMO.

My personal next favorite is Max Iheanachor, closely followed by Caleb Lomu and Blake Miller. Order subject to change post-combine.

Not a Kadyn Proctor fan personally, don't think he can re-direct. He, Spencer Fano, and Gennings Dunker all project better inside.

I know some like to follow the draft year round.

However I generally don't pay attention until the season is over and more so during the weeks leading up to the draft because the rankings can change so much as you get closer.

It would be great if Proctor could handle LT but I'm ok if he ends up at guard. I just don't like to see the left side get blown up instantly and giving Maye no time to react. With Proctor's bulk and anchor I feel Maye will be a lot safer. Wilson does not look like he can handle guard and could benefit by going to center.

Freeling looks more like a pure OT type. I've seen him go in the early 2nd in some mocks. Maybe he is still underrated. I don't mind him in the late 1st or early 2nd. Our OL needs serious help.

How do we feel about switching a LT to RT if we decide to target that position early? I'm thinking in terms of Isaiah World or Austin Barber in particular. Or do we just draft a ready made RT like Fano (increasingly unlikely), Francis Mauigoa, Blake Miller or Gennings Dunker?

Manx, I have a ton of respect for your draft work and opinions, but Campbell isn't moving, Vrabel made that very clear at a post SB presser.

I had a brief flirtation with moving Campbell the day after the SB but that was it. The post you quoted isn't referring to that though. It's about moving draftable LTs like World or Barber to RT and whether there's a risk to doing so. In fact it's a post from September.

I was taking a short break from working on a project and didn't check the date.

Yup. Arguably the most Vrabel-guy in this draft not called Caleb Downs.

Are you sure? Miller has really long arms, not a T-Rex like someone else I know.
Mentality, dude. Not everything is about length.

Southside Johnny once sang (covered of a Swallows song), It Ain't the Meat Its the Motion. And I learned that technique, skill, and effort are more important than the raw tools, size, or the inherent quality of something.
