Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Not only that, but if they can find a long-term solution for a more dynamic threat, it changes things, and Boutte becomes an even more dangerous player. Diggs' presence did that for a good portion of the season. They just need someone else who can demand more attention when it comes to stretching the field, because teams blanketed Boutte in the postseason, knowing he was their best deep threat. If you get one more guy who can also do that, Boutte will have more one-on-one opportunities. Maybe Kyle Williams turns into a guy who takes a step forward in 2026, but he's not a big physical target. Although he also won a few one-on-ones and was definitely a nice surprise this year. He just needs to do a better job getting on the same page in this offense.

Diggs, despite his production, probably won't be their best solution long-term. He's been shifty and was a good player, but he's not an explosive game-breaker anymore. And at 32, he's probably got one more year before they'd have to replace him. I just don't know if I'd invest in Brown. At least not after what he did this postseason.
Now this is interesting. Keep Boutte, trade for Brown, dump Diggs (not sure Philly would take him but someone might give up a 6th), sign Pitts…

That’s some legit threats running around.

Pitts can’t block for ****, but neither can our current TE room so it isn’t really a downgrade.

Fair points but I’d ask (and am) this?

Is Brown’s performance last year because he’s lost speed/ability, or it because WR’s can be total headcases and when they mentally check out, the physical follows?

For whatever reason, Brown clearly doesn’t want to be there.

Moss looked absolutely WASHED his last season in Oakland. Looked just fine when he got to NE.

Boutte is a contested catch guy, but is not particularly fast, explosive, or elusive.

To me, he’s. #3 specific use-case guy.

Brown, at least at one point, was a guy defenses had to plan for.

What I don’t know, is WHY he wasn’t that last year.

I do know NE needs a true playmaker for Drake.

How they get one doesn’t matter to me.
I guess my whole thing is I'd be hard-pressed to part with Boutte. He's not a top guy, but I'd hate to lose him because you at least know what you have and he's been solid, and he's still relatively young. But I agree with you on the rest. They need another explosive playmaker, who would make everybody better. Diggs helped, but they need more than him.

Hard to know how long Diggs stays pleasant. All those types turn eventually. And, because of that, I'm not sure how much we could trust AJB being a good locker room guy. Is he all in? Would he and Diggs butt heads? And, it'd be another aging WR that we'd sink a lot of money into. However, we can't stand pat on the WR corp. Someone is going to have to go for another big vet to come in.
I like the idea of Pierce - could be a great fit. Especially if Williams takes a big leap and we might cut Pop loose.

Diggs, Pierce, Boutte, Hollins, Williams, Chism - could be good

Boutte is our #1 WR and still only 23….wait until Maye gets an OL ….alot of people talking about trading him for AJ Brown …I don’t agree with that take !

You posted the exact same number I did. They were completely redundant and, as is your tendency, added absolutely nothing.

Are you ******ed? Two teams can easily make a trade post June 1. They can even agree to the trade beforehand and simply wait for June 1 to make it official.

In fact, several articles I have read theorizing the Patriots may trade for Brown said it would make the most sense to do it post June 1.

You’re the only dipshit who, for reasons known but to God, refuses to consider that as a possibility.

I love how publicly humiliated and marked for stupidity your posts have become. Thanks for the entertainment. You have been called out and flushed

I'd prefer to dump $ and draft capital into the offensive line, which was exposed all through the playoffs. If there's a plan to address that on top of AJ, I'm interested.

Nothing more than a 3rd + 5th, keep Boutte for injury/malcontent insurance and find a bargain bin blocking TE in the draft/FA...

You've done 3 things in this thread:

1) Post a graphic which 100% supported my after-June-1 salary cap statements (thank you for proving my calculations were 100% spot on, by the way)
2) Made the moronic statement that it would be cap prohibitive for the Eagles to trade Brown (which I proved wrong)
2) Made the moronic statement that the Patriots, for reasons known but to God, would never engage in a post June 1 trade (which I proved wrong)

Take the L and move on.

Fk AJ, you guys are ******ed. He's a Malcontent.
TRENCH, TRENCH TRENCH! If the trench is good, our WR's are good.
Period.

I've made mention about the OL.. in 2024 we drafted Robinson and Wallace.. one got cut and the other is a backup who never sees the field.. they were the 32nd ranked OL that season... could we say they were much better than 32nd this season?

Drake ascended to elite status behind this OL.. they aren't a finished product but the OL is solid and will be better next season

On AJ if Vrabel brings him in then that would mean all the top decision makers, locker room leaders, ect are on board.. Vrabel isn't going to make a move without running it by those he respects in the organization.

I’ve read this a few times from other posters and I’ll say the same thing I said to the previous AJ Brown thread. The Eagles and Hurts don’t use him right. From what I’ve seen from Tennessee, no one aside from Larry Fitzgerald ran better slants and take them for big gains for such a big bodied wr. Josh would use him perfectly in this offense and we would reap the rewards imo.

That contract would have to be reworked. I think he wants to be here, he should of been here from the get go. We’ll see what happens.
Still have Gonzales and Maye to pay too so it may not be in the cards.

I think Boutte is better suited as a Z receiver in a possession receiver roll. He doesn't have top end speed. He is more of a contested catch guy. I think he would be far better if the Pats had a true #1 X receiver who drew attention away from Boutte.

You forgot to add that we all began laughing at your posts and you have no credibility. You want us to believe that the Eagles are happy to throw away $79 million like cash is just water. You proved nothing, except your ignorance. $79 million is still $79 million. You also had no idea that trades do not work like cuts. I had to teach you that. A post June 1 trade is not a designation like you initially believed. It has to happen post June 1 per league rules. If Brown is traded in 2026, its either before the draft or before the trade deadline midseason if Philly is out of contention. It will not be in the window post draft and pre season. That makes no sene regardless of what you claim. The only L here is your posting, which is entertaining, but just laughable which is why you got exposed by other posters as well.

We need help in the trenches.

i'd pass on Brown, selfish player as only cares about his touches as opposed to team wins. no thanks, have a good environment dont need to disrupt it with a bad attitude 29 yr old.
I wonder if Vrabel thinks he's hit prime Patriots locker room, where known malcontents will come and become model citizens, or whether he has to be careful about it still.

You are too stupid to understand my posts.

$79 million is what they have to pay him (meaning under the cap) if they keep him long term, dipshit. They can get rid of roughly $50 million of that by trading him, dipshit. You're the one arguing that trading him is not cap friendly.
You also had no idea that trades do not work like cuts. I had to teach you that.
I never... not once.... said (or believed) trades are the same as cuts. You're just a lying piece of **** at this point.

No thanks. He is too much of a diva and not worth it when taking into account production and cost.

Does not happen in 1 year. Takes years and a lot of consistent winning.

I agree but I wonder what Vrabel thinks.
