I wouldn't understand the logic of not hiring the guy who has performed about as well as one can expect in the role already.

Just my thoughts
He was good in the regular season, but holy SMOKES, was he good in the postseason. That defense was on a damn heater for four games. Absolutely relentless pressure, and the corners were on lockdown. They also somehow developed Woodson into a very good starting safety in just his rookie season. And this is all while learning on the job in an interim capacity!!

I like Schwartz a lot but there’s no way I’m passing up the chance to see what Kuhr can cook in his first actual year in the role for real.

Schwartz is an excellent DC….no question Vrabel should interview him…..Kuhr did a great job this year and the price is probably right though…. Have to see what Vrabel does

If Williams is available to keep mentoring Kuhr, as he supposedly did the last month or so of this season, we really have the development of something awesome.

This seemed like the only solution but also felt so unlikely to actually happen. I’m somewhat surprised
Not going to lie, it makes me wonder about TWs overall health/prognosis

Nice to see some PatsFansForum posters predicted this move....
Nice move for all involved, most of all for the team...

It would kind of be a stab in the back not keep Kuhr as DC but Jim Schwartz is on the market and you know it's a billion dollar business and etc..

Vrabel's mantra is that if you make the most of your opportunity you will get more opportunities, he isn't going to veer away from that to sign coaches he worked with prior to this season. Kur made the most of his opportunity, he will get the DC job permanently. I think that was actually the reason they bumped Williams upstairs.

It could be a little tough to find two guys to come for an ‚ ain’t no way in heck you will be hired, this is all for show cause you got the right heredity‘ interview…..

Since he is still on the payroll, could they force Mayo to come in for 2 minutes …. Or maybe just pick up a video telephone call?

That would at least take care of 50%. And let us say we got one good thing out of him….

Jim Schwartz is a hell of an option, but honestly, if you've got a chance to see the "next" guy in someone like Kuhr, you've got to give him the nod. He proved he can do it with these personnel in the biggest moments.

Glad to see they're going to take care of Williams, as well.

Yep. Kuhr all the way for me. Schwartz is a good, not great, DC to me. Browns had a good defense but it gave up too many points too often, abd they couldn’t get stops when they absolutely needed them.

Take it up with @Ian

There is nothing for me to take up with @Ian it is Sam who isn't honoring his wager
It is Ian's site, he can bounce me, or any of us for that matter, at his leisure. That makes him our host it doesn't make him the arbiter of man cards. Sam has defaulted on his in front of all of us. Only Andy can absolve Sam of his obligation to pay up, Sam should at least own it and ask. Running from it and hiding behind Daddy Ian makes him a coward as well as a Welsher.

(man is it eating a **** sandwich for me to be in Andy's corner)

What sort of message would bypassing Kuhr send to the players as well?

The players know what he did for them. He was thrown into the fire with no notice and excelled.

Agree 100%

I still wonder how much of postseason was T Williams giving Kuhr hints-tips, putting icing on the cake…..but keeping both around and Kuhr getting the big promo that protects him from poaching is the winner solution.

I'm not sure anyone outside the facility knows exactly how much Williams did Monday to Saturday. About the only thing we know for sure is that he was not calling plays on Sundays, and (AFAIK) generally did not travel with the team to away games.

But he did travel to SB for sure (I read it), and I thought DEN too. The rest were home games so is real hard to say if he snuck in to offices, watched from a booth with headset comms on ….. or NOT?

This is an odd situation. Kuhr did a really good job filling in at the last second at DC. He stepped up to the plate unlike DeMarcus Covington which was a joke hire from the beginning.

With that said, I would like a guy like Jim Schwartz as DC. I think it would be good for Kuhr to learn from Jim and then go elsewhere for a DC job.

Schwartz is under contract with the Browns for the next two seasons. Until the Browns release him, Schwartz can not coach. That is what the Browns sports reporters are saying.
