Anyone else having Sunday football withdrawal symptoms?

PJ I had the same thought, but if we thought it was a tankathon now, most of the teams in the bottom half would play possum.
That’s why I was thinking that the team that loses the pooper/toilet bowl moves way down in the draft order. It makes it riskier to tank that way.

good break to finish shoveling the snow ah

Definitely. I have a little way to get a fix every now and then. My friends and I like to pull up a game on NFL Network as he has the subscription, and then have a little +1/+2/+5 bet on each drive, typically just exchanging chips. Basically, every drive, one person in the group sets the line... Such as... 2.5 receptions. Other two guys take over or under, then you let the drive play out.

Really fun to do this with Chargers games in 2010. They had #1 offense, #1 defense (yds, #10 in pts) and a historically bad #32 special teams. They went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. It's fun because there are blocked punts, kick return TD's, a lot of offense, and just crazy **** galore lmao.

Either that, or we pause before each snap and try to call coverage and guess what the offense is gonna do.

Helps you have a different perspective on games you've already seen.

All kidding aside, the conference game losers would probably put on a decent game for this week. Another game check for the players, spotlights on the two coaching staffs, and maybe offer the winner something else, like 9 home games in the next season (loser gets 8)....

You spend so much time invested in your team. Merchandise, planning around life events to watch, getting excited and feeling sad. They win a SB and you are happy. You wake up and say "now what"? My team won but football is over for 7 months. It's back to the stressers of every day life.

It's like the dog that caught the car idiom. Also, the pain of losing can smetimes resonate more than the thrill of victory.

No football for 7 months sucks.

The NFL used to have a runner up bowl in the 6O’s. They canned it. Nobody wanted to play it - or presumably watch it

This time last year I was immersed in 20 page draft threads talking about Will Campbell's arms and wingspan. This year lucky if I could name 5 draft prospects.
I'm a big draft guy, so have already been dabbling in mock drafts and player rankings.
Regarding today, yes I miss watching football.
Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't minus a billion degrees outside for the 100th day in a row!

Seems like a week draft. Any diamonds in rough?

This is bad, but i was thinking with dread after next week there won't be any football games until august. Its almost an existential crisis
Yeah. Been there. My team might win a SB but there is no football for 7 months.

Bittersweet

Hate to be the one to break it to you but the Pats beat your Broncos. Not sure how you missed it

If this was true we'd have to contend with a bunch of sore losers talking about how this should have been the real superbowl.

I was just talking about this. Imagine how miserable this winter would be without a deep playoff run. Then when it ends we're close to when the weather starts to turn. A superbowl run definitely shortens winter.

Yes. This sucks, I’m bored, it’s friggin cold here, and I’m tired of winter already. We’re about to head down that dark no football tunnel and I’m not prepared.
Time to get back into hockey this year to get me through. Baseball puts me to sleep.

It's funny how much the rankings differ.
If you play around with profootballnetwork draft simulator, you can pick different rankings (PFF, PFSN, ESPN, The Athletic and Concencus). The Athletic is way off, in that sim I could draft Sadiq at 31, and Kayden McDonald at 63....that would never happen. If we don't go Edge in the 1st, Zion Young is interesting in the 2nd or 3rd, but he seems to be rising. Malachi Lawerence in the 3rd or 4th is something to keep an eye on.
When I fist started, you could get Nick Singleton in the 5th, now he seems to be a consensus top 100 pick.
He would be a great 3rd back. Size, speed, can catch.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe is an interesting guy. Played OT in college, but may switch to OG in the pros, but he would provide positional flexibility.
Few interesting TEs, Koziol, John Michael Gyllenborg and Dan Villari are all unique options after Sadiq, Trigg, and Stowers.
Way too early as these rankings will change a lot in the next few months, but it helps pass the time.

Yep. For most fans, the long dark empty time started weeks ago.

One of my kids is a diehard tennis fan. I envy the lack of offseason!

I know this isn't the draft thead but tell me more...

Like I said, way too early to tell with how dynamic the rankings are and will continue to be.
If the draft was today, I would think are best value would be DT, Edge, OT, LB or OG.
I would expect Ioane to be gone, so we could be looking Bisontis if we go OG.
There's really not to much you can take from this, as we don't really know what our needs will be post Free Agency.
It does seem to be a deeper OT draft than OG. If you don't take an OG in the first, you are looking at developmental prospects, possibly OT to OG converts.
It's been years since we've had a true difference making LB, perhaps we take one in the first 2-3 rds (Allen, Hill, Rodriguez, Golday).
Our needs will change post FA, so this is just a fun exercise for me, not much more than that.

Let me refer you to this post from another thread:
Today nfl network starts showing all those half hour super bowl highlights shows . The early ones with John Facenda narrating
We’re already past the Super Bowl that shall not be named, onto New Orleans and Indy, a fun one!

I could use a break. Also more importantly, so can the pats.
