Is he truly deserving?

As awful as those decisions were he is deserving to get in the HOF.

I always thought the -gates would make the committee engineer at least one voter to say no or abstain so he wouldn't be a unanimous first ballot selection. I expected that all along. That would send the same message that they're pretending to send now.

Denying him outright? It's clear this was political and it was personal.

In SB 42, he should not have gone for 4th and 13. Otherwise, how is he supposed to stop a cb from dropping a pick. Or, a one in a million helmet catch play from happening? The offense only put up 14 points and never changed their approach until it was too late.

How did he fumble the second Giants SB? That was not a good defense and yet they only gave up 21 points. With the weapons on offense, even with a hobbled Gronk, they should have been able to score more than 17.

Two SB's against the Giants with lethal offenses and could not reach 20 points once.

The Eagles SB--he completely botched. Agreed.

I don’t buy it. Any influence Kraft has with the committee, he’s using in getting himself in. He is t going to overplay his hand and say “oh by the way…. While you’re voting for me, don’t vote for this guy.

I think there's a classic rift exacerbated by the propagandistic trumping-up of all things anti-Patriot by the NFL in some kind of frustrated JETE fever dream.

There's inside vs. outside thinking.

Inside NE's fanbase, we're an incredibly successful single team, the first dynasty in what was supposed to be a dynasty-proof system. We did everything right. Then we got whacked for where in the stadium we put cameras - which turned into, in the public mind, this unimaginable surveillance and intel operation Bill learned how to do in Annapolis from frogmen and navy seals.

Where do you put the proportionality of what actually happened? Where do you put the League's purpose for its vendetta?

Around the 2007 timeframe, I and some others here asked a lot of the questions (mainly through links to publicly known information) about the issues.

We didn't get too far with an information push, but we at least gathered the info.

The timeline is insane, and it shows pretty much what the headline of the above article says -- not this gangster takeover of the league through "cheating."

Take a look in the linked article. A good lead in is where it refers to "the camera scandal--the first one." That was the JETE filming the Pats. It's a glimpse into how the league dealt with the JETE abuse of the camera policy.

But facts rather than torchbearing mob-mentality is the insider NE thinking.

I think these guys think they can just lay aside the greatest body of work of any head coach in the NFL because of allegations of "Cheating." Players and coaches have made slanderous allegations that they were the real champions, because they would have been the better team if NE didn't cheat. Well, you can't prove or disprove a counterfactual, except to demonstrate that what's been exploded into this dynasty-explaining story was practiced by other teams without any real concern by anyone.

It's gospel in "Outside thinking" that everything BB did comes with an asterisk and so on and so forth. Okay, maybe don't punish the players because deep down they know we ruled this league. But certainly whack Belichick.

I don't like the guy personally. I used to think he was magic, but that progressively lessened. Best coach in NFL history? I think that's intact, just judging by results. But in the "Was it Brady/Was it Belichick" debate, though I would have loved Brady to be proven wrong when we lost him and still had BB, well, we got the answer really.

They needed each other, but BB needed TFB more by the end.

Anyway, I don't think it's a mystery. I think if there are no "scandals" he's first ballot. And if there were no Patriots dominance, there would be no "scandals." The HOF comes with an asterisk...

The problem is the guy who is supposed to advocate for the Patriots hates the Patriots. That is why the best dynasty in the history of the NFL, spanning 2 decades, has so few members in the HOF.

Nope, Brady will get in on the first ballot.
Which will prove it has nothing do with so called scandals, but rather petty grudges for how BB operated and offended people that have votes. You can attribute those offenses to beating them, or not treating them with respect they felt deserved, but the bottom line is BB has enemies in the room, I highly doubt Brady does.

The "did nothing without Brady" argument is just dumb because if that's the case remove Landry, Walsh, Knoll and Shula from the HOF because they never did anything without HOF QBs.

-Landry never won a conference championship without Staubach and was 6-8 in the playoffs without Staubach and missed the playoffs 10 out of the 18 years in which he coached without Staubach as his QB.

-Walsh was 8-24 before Montana became Montana and only ever coached in the nfl with Montana on the roster. The year after he left the 49ers George Seifert won a SB as their coach.

-Knoll was 1-13 before Bradshaw and the second Bradshaw retired he never finished more than 2 games over .500 and only made the playoffs once.

-Shula majority of his career he had a HOF QB between Unitas in Baltimore ('63-'69) Griese ('70-'80) and Marino ('83-'95) in Miami and the guy really should get knocked for having Marino be his QB for 13 seasons and only getting to 3 AFCC and only winning 1.


and all those guys coached in an era which there was no free agency.

He thinks the HoF did it on purpose so that the whole debate would happen well ahead of the announcement of who did get in and the NFL Honors awards. So that it didn't completely overwhelm everything that comes out from those two events.
