I met the ESPN crew at the time in New Orleans. Merril Hodge, Sterling Sharpe, I cannot remember the rest. Met Luis Gonzales which was right after he hit the game winning hit against the Yankees in the World Series. He was coming up to all the Pats fans at the bar we were at. Said hello to Steve Young as he walked by like a 90 year old man. Boy did he look like his playing years took a toll on his body. Saw Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

I wasn't "lucky" enough to meet NEM. Those were the classic days before McDaniels when he *****ed about Charlie Weis.
The Super Bowl is the center of the universe.

Athletes, Actors, Actresses Musicians mulling around living large. After striking out on tickets, I watched the Minnesota Super Bowl with Snoop Dogs body guards. We were at a sports bar out near the airport next to my hotel. At first they were giving me crap, but I gave it right back. Only 1 guy looked like a bodyguard big with a gravy catcher. The rest of the crew looked like everyday guys. One guy was thin as a beanpole. I figured that it was because Snoop almost went up river for something his bodyguards did in Cal IIRC. So, his replacements were unassuming. I bought them a couple of rounds of 1942 Don Julio as I watched the Pats implode.

I don't get it. I thought he hated Charlie Weiss
He did.

NEM wanted Charlie fired and wrote Kraft numerous letters. Kraft showed Charlie one of NEMs letters and he basically sent NEM a "Im still here" FU portrait without saying FU.. NEM was proud because he finally got attention from the Pats and specifically Weis.

Here’s why Super Bowl tickets might be more expensive this year!

It’s been seven years since the Patriots were in the Super Bowl, and it could cost you more than $7,000 a ticket to see them at the big game in-person on Feb. 8.

That’s right, as of Tuesday, tickets to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., started at $7,750, according to On Location Events, the NFL’s official ticketing and hospitality partner for the big game.

The Patriots will take on the Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1, 2015. (Quick refresher for those who’ve forgotten: The Patriots defeated the Seahawks that year, 28-24.)

Ticket prices climbed once the matchup was set, with the most affordable tickets going for 10 percent more Monday than three days prior, according to the analytics site Ticketdata.com. The price spike eased just slightly Tuesday. On Location spokesperson Tyler DePina said Super Bowl tickets seem to be moving more quickly this year than last, when the Eagles were preparing to play the Chiefs. By Monday, the company had sold 13 percent more tickets than this time last year, he said.Prices started to shoot up Sunday evening, after fans saw the Patriots beat the Broncos in the AFC Championship game, then watched the Seahawks defeat the Rams in the NFC Championship game, said Keith Pagello, founder of Ticketdata.com.

“There’s a lot of impulse buying, maybe some not-so-sober people buying tickets right after the games who don’t want to miss out and just click buy, buy, buy, which boosts prices,” Pagello said.At this time last year, the cheapest Super Bowl tickets were only $4,300, according to Ticketdata.com’s Super Bowl price tracking page.
Affluent Bay Area fans could also be driving up prices. Levi’s Stadium is nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley.

“Median income is higher in that area,” Pagello said, calling the Bay Area a top-five market among US metro areas with an NFL stadium.

Demand for Super Bowl LX tickets could also be higher than in recent years because the Patriots and the Seahawks are both returning to the stage for the first time in several years, Pagello said. In contrast, the Chiefs went to three Super Bowls in a row prior to this season. The Eagles also had two Super Bowl appearances in three years.

Ticket prices for last year’s Super Bowl were lower than the previous four, Pagello said, in part because many Chiefs fans likely had a “been there, done that” feeling that discouraged them from shelling out money.

“Many of those people had already seen them win,” said Pagello, who is based in Cincinnati.

He added that if the Rams were going to the Super Bowl instead of the Seahawks, demand also wouldn’t be as high because LA won the Super Bowl just four years ago.

Stadium size could also be driving up ticket prices a bit, Pagello said.

With upper decks on only one side of the field, Levi’s Stadium has fewer seats than others with upper decks wrapping all around, such as New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, which hosted last year’s Super Bowl.

On Monday, the cheapest Super Bowl tickets on Ticketmaster were listing for about $7,400, including fees. Some of the best seats, on or near the 50-yard line, were going for as much as $36,000.

But by Tuesday, the cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster had dropped to around $6,670.While upper deck corner seats listed in the $7,500 range, seats in lower decks behind the goal posts were going for just under $8,000 to about $10,000 on Ticketmaster by Tuesday morning.

The least expensive On Location ticket packages, which include pregame food and drinks, were starting at around $7,750 on Tuesday. Resale tickets on sites like StubHub and SeatGeek started at around $6,800. The cheapest ticket on Vividseats was selling for $6,200.

New England fans hoping to travel to California will also have to open their wallets for flights and hotels.

The cheapest round-trip flight to the Bay Area (leaving Logan Airport the day before the Super Bowl and returning the day after the game) were selling for $377 as of Monday, according to Skyscanner.com. But by Tuesday, the prices had increased to $550 for the cheapest round-trip flight.

The most affordable hotel rooms in Santa Clara and nearby Sunnyvale, Calif., were starting at more than $300 a night, according to Hotels.com.

The Granada Inn and Super 8 had rooms available for about $350 per night, while Quality Inn and Suites and Rodeway Inn had rooms available for about $450 nightly, according to the travel site.

NEM did not like me.
I was a frequent lurker in the early days of this forum but never opened an account. I was on the old espn board along with several others here. But I remember reading NEMs infamous rant and thinking thus guy is totally whacked. I never had an interaction with him but most likely he wouldn't have liked me either

Silicon Valley got lots of money. Locals poop on a golden toilet there. Gonna be crazy expensive by game day.

NEM liked me because I once made the mistake of asking him an out his football background.

He liked me well enough to hug me in Arizona. That’s was fine.

He also liked me well enough to ask me for a significant loan. That was when I started to completely ignore him.

We're you on KFFL?

That board was a circus.

Especially internet “friends” like New England Mike. I think I just said “sorry, no” and that was it for our “friendship.” Oh well, RIP NEM.

I had a woman that I just met ask me to loan her 40k.

They were basically all the same - Weis doesnt throw Slants across the middle of the defense. Another was Weis should be be up in the booth and not on the sideline.

On the Pats KFFL board it was confirmed that Charlie Weis was leaving the NEP and accepting the ND HC job. KFFL was one stop shopping with every NFL team having a board. So, the main concern and discussion on the Pats board was about who would replace a 3 time SB winning OC. It had to be somebody good. Somebody on that board actually wanted to give NEM a shot. Another poster asked if Brady could thrive in a NEM offense.

At the time, IIRC NEM lost his posting privileges, but could read the KFFL board.

There was nothing like USENET in the 90s.Every team had a section. I can hear my new 1200 baud modem dialing up now.

As weird as he was no one can deny his passion for the Pats.. He often got misdirected posted over the top anger misdirected anger towards Weiss and others... he also was a tad too aggressive towards fans who disagreed with him.
He was very involved in a Pats Fan group in Phoenix...
Seem to recollect the final straw for Ian was when he called him at home whining and *****ing about something on this forum, that was after repeated warnings from Ian & the mods to tone it down..
Was in NOLA for one of the Superbowls (Ravens & ?) thought all the hoopla was over the top, so much so it seemed like a carnival instead of a football game... not for me.
Without regard I will stay at home with a few Pats fans, a place where I can drink Sam Adams inexpensively, do not have to wait in line to pee and eat reasonably priced foods...and if necessary put the TV on pause in the event of an unplanned distraction. Eazy Peazy...

I began on the AOL Pats board with dial up.

I recall a few of the members - Dawger52, Belichickfan, Fernjoe, PatsPanel, TXPatsfan or PatsfanTX. That board was divided with Pro Bledsoe and Anti Bledsoe battles raging on.
