I know Maye has had his share of criticism (some of it deserved), but shoutout to him for 3 specific heady plays that he made today that won us the game (one of them wasn’t directly related to the victory, but was still a display of his awareness).

-TD run in the red zone

-Slide with 1 second left before the half. He knew he wouldn’t make it to the sideline in order to stop the clock, but was aware enough to get down, let Vrabel call the timeout for potential points. AB missed the FG, but plays like that win games…

-Keeping the ball late in the 4th quarter despite the rest of the offense not knowing he would. He let his nuts hang on that call. Iced the game…
Stafford had almost exactly the same opportunity at end of half in NFCC and they ran the clock to 0.
Hats off to Vrabel who was signaling to ref [& had him] in his hip pocket too. McKay and Max Statford can’t hold candles.

Social media infatuation with Chism will never stop fascinating me. Guy is a less exciting Bam Childress, currently.

Wildly overrated by online fans. Maybe he turns into something but this guy is not the difference between a win and an easy win.

Eh, I haven't seen anything over the top. I think it's pretty reasonable. We don't have an instant-open player like Brown, Welker, or Edelman. Chism broke Kupp's records and has shown small signs he's better at sitting in zone and presenting a QB-friendly target than Douglas is -- and I like Pop, but he's more of a vertical threat than a high-volume slot guy -- so many of us want to see him get a chance. He hasn't done poorly when thrown to, so let's try more snaps. Against teams with with pressure, he could be the safe outlet Maye needs to keep the chains moving.

JSN and Kenneth Walker are the threats.

No one else really scares you. Kupp is wiley but not what he once was
Darnold also is a threat. He was excellent in the NFC championship. He is not Stafford but can make big plays with his arm if he is not pressured. Rams did not pressure him.

Walker looks like a better Chiefs Pacheco

I could not agree more.

Don’t get me wrong, as a fan of football it was disappointing that the circumstances dictated this (because offense is fun and we wanted to see our young qb succeed)….but the circumstances were too extreme to overlook.

The defense was playing great.
Offense was going to be difficult in the extreme weather.
The ONE thing the Pats could not do was give the game away with a sack/fumble or something like that…which we saw too often in weeks prior.

So they absolutely made the right decision.
Everybody was saying that the snow benefits the offense, but that is not necessarily true IMO.

The NE WRs and TE were not able to make cuts yesterday and get open. Stidham picked the wrong DB to throw at on his INT. Gonzo was all over that Denver WR. Payton played field position (just like Parcells) throughout the game and the Pats were in a hole all day.

Did you guys see that Lutz said that the Broncos lined up for a FG wrong because they could not see the yard markers?

Payton should have called a timeout and sent the blowers out to clear the area and get it right. I also thought that Payton did a dreadful job the entire game using his timeouts.

I wonder how many quarterbacks would have resisted the 4th quarter playcalling which basically consisted of, "We are not doing anything except hoping to run as much clock as possible. That means no throw for you." I think some QBs would have lost their minds.

oh that would be so nice. the GDT would be so much more enjoyable with all the negative Nancy chicken littles.

@Ian feature request: a second GDT with a one-way trapdoor into it from the main GDT, triggered by exceeding a threshold value of bozo or smh reactions. Let the negative folks inhabit their private bubble without spewing their toxicity onto those who want to share enjoyment in the GDT.
We could just make a 2nd GDT and block the nancies. Maybe three of us sign up to be the booters so two are always available. We'd need some rules - it can't be all rainbows and unicorns. If the team or a player is playing a ****ty game let's have a contextual conversation. We could call it the EA-GDT. Educated Adult. Or, and I like this better. This could be the GDT and the take all comers could be the GDC - Game Day Cesspool.

In the bad old days the punter marched off from the spot and planted his foot for the holder exactly where he wanted it held.

Why they didn’t that here ???

In any event, it sounds like excuses, „wahhhh we kicked from 7 yards back instead of 8“

Like it’s not still your fault. Lol

Lutz had a bad day. Romo was correct when he said that the TV view did not really depict how bad it was on the field.

The Denver punter is a stud. I haven't seen punting that good in a long time.

The best thing Vrabel/Khur did yesterday was when it started snowing they went pre-dominantly man coverage instead of zone, and started attacking in 1st down to set up 2nd and long.

I believe that Maye will play much better in 60 degree weather.

Somehow the Pats have to limit JSN.
That’s why we have Gonzo. You can put him on JSN and trust things won’t get out of hand.

JSN is a beast. They may have to double him.
Gonzo is also a beast. I’m not against doubling him as a strategy but also gotta have faith in a top 2 corner to limit him if that’s the matchup.

Not a big deal, but I am glad we have a kicker whose name doesn’t look remotely like “Lolz” when looked at quickly.

I thought Berringer had a horrible game that started badly and then got worse. I can understand how the conditions affected the results, but as you pointed out, the Denver punter, was consistently excellent throughout the game. Berringer's kicking gave us poor field position most of the game and Denver seemingly just one or two first downs away from FG territory almost all game.
