They seem excited about it but probably not the way you think. Lol
Its not the worse idea. Philips going out and taking complete control of the Colts offense, calling adjustments and audible after being there less than a week was impressive.

He clearly knows how to run a pro offense and I bet players would have alot of respect for him.

I dont think he is ready to be a HC in the NFL but then again Vrable took some quick leaps to become the HC in Tenn and was successful.

After McDaniel and Harbaugh got fired, you immediately saw the rest of the league move in to line up interviews and hire them.

After McDermott got fired, you've heard... nothing. No interviews, no reports of anyone knocking on his door. Just nada.

That has to be telling in some way, right?

Vrabel was a coach in college and the pros for 6 years B4 he became the Coach at Tennessee.

Apparently Josh Allen is sitting in on all the interviews. So I think you hit the nail on the head.

Did you ever read that story about how a few years ago that one team chaplain guy who left the Pats for Houston got the Houston owner to get into a long prayer session after getting bounced in the postseason?

I think some of these owners get seduced, for lack of a better word, by front office guys who have all the answers in meetings and basically none when you see their rosters on the field.
hey he wasn’t a chaplain, he was a “Character Coach!” Every rich dude needs a guru.

What are you even talking about? Mike Vrabel didn't take any quick leaps or short cuts.

Ohio State (2011–2013): Began his coaching career as a linebackers coach, then moved to defensive line coach at his alma mater.

Houston Texans (2014–2017): Hired by Bill O'Brien as Linebackers Coach (2014-2016). During his three seasons as linebackers coach, the Texans ranked third in the NFL in yards allowed per game. In January 2016, news outlets reported that the San Francisco 49ers offered Vrabel their defensive coordinator job, but he declined the offer and stayed in Houston.

In January 2017, the Texans named Vrabel as their defensive coordinator, moving previous coordinator Romeo Crennel to assistant head coach

On January 20, 2018, Vrabel was hired as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans on a five-year deal.

Ummm thats a bit different than coaching 10 kids and serving as the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Fairhope, Alabama

Usually ex-players make their bones as assistants, etc before becoming HCs.

Not sure why Beane and Pagula believe PR is ready for this role?
My guess is it was a favor to his agent... get his name circulating in the coaching circles... see if there is any interest from someone...

He runs a bend-but-don't break defense.

People are looking for something else.

I personally think he is excellent as a coach, as long as he has a good OC with him.

It’s not the worst idea. Maybe compared to “attacking Russia in the winter” or “accepting Jeff Dahmer as a FB friend”. But c’mon. They fail. Jeff Saturday said it once : it’s all the BS outside the game that sink the inexperienced.

How embarrassing to that fanbase. Imagine we did this with Belichick?
"True Bills fans don't do stuff like this. The optics of this are way way worse than what some people summated about Terry and Brandon yesterday, let's hope this article stays put in WNY. No need for the rest of the country to see this."

BUF is likely interested in a coach or coaches who are playing on Sunday and possibly an internal upgrade if that doesn't work out.

Just think, a little over a year ago Sean McDermott and the Bills were on the sidelines laughing as the Joe Milton led Patriots beat them and lost the 1st overall pick in the NFL draft.

What a difference a year makes. They aren't laughing anymore.

Your window just closed.
