Niners have had enough of Aiyuk

That said, why not let him elevate a true WR1, like Brady with 2007 Moss? [Not a plug for Aiyuk, just the general idea of a clear WR1.]

I don’t disagree with the sentiment but this guy isn’t it. He’s hurt, he’s expensive and he’s not a team guy. He was also, in no way, ever as good as Diggs

As a general rule, unless there are major team culture, character, off-the field, or health red flags the NEP FO should be brining everyone in for a conversation and potential workout that has superior talent. If they work out, great. Everyone wins. If they don't get rid of them as soon as possible.

I'm aware of his issues. Aiyuk acted immaturely by taking a selfie while driving 100mph passing the team's stadium. Incredibly stupid. Incredibly selfish (he's married with a kid). He also skipped workouts, etc. Not sure what the 49ers did to him but he clearly had an issue with them over something. He seems like a bit of a rebel/non-conformist (uniform issues) so that is also a concern.

I'm definitely not in the, "We need a numbah one wide receiver" camp and get him at all costs but when players with talent are available, a responsible FO would do their due diligence with prudence and give Vrabes the opportunity to talk to him and see what he can/can't work with.

Hasn't caught a TD since 2023 add in knee and cranial issues, he's a foregone conclusion.

Aiyuk is Five Years Younger than S Diggs. That counts for something.

So the 49ers Voided Most of His 2026 Salary so: basically he can sign with the Team of his choice. What's not to like?? Put me in that not so fast group: Aiyuk is a proven WR in this League nobody is perfect.

Some players just aren't willing to "buy in." I don't know that Aiyuk would or wouldn't, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
ctpat: it's 50/50 risk/reward we have seen disgruntled players go to other places and ball out. The flip side: we have also seen some flame out. Brandon Aiyuk's age got me he will be 28 next season after skipping a year and a half. Aiyuk have been a really good player in this League: His numbers back it up. Drake Maye Needs to have nice shiny toys too.

Or at the very least The Cult of Verticality needs him to have them
Guilty.

No thanks. With all the injuries the 49ers had they decided they were better off without him in the locker room and the team. The Chiefs will trade for or sign him.

He’s going to be 28 in March, coming back from a really bad knee injury that required surgery and quits on his team.

Not just a "no" but a "hell no"

He isn't a #1, is convinced that he is, and won't be happy if he is not.

Let me play Devils advocate for a moment. The 49rs have a horrific record of injuries. What if Aiyuk is just sick and tired of what's going on and has figured out that he can't get healthy and had a career in SF? Something is wrong with that team, you all have to admit that. I have no idea if its the electrical facility or not, but if the guy's career is at stake and the team is not doing what it should in his recovery, he should sit out. I dunno if this right or not, but its possible.

If he wants to continue playing in this league, he needs to start talking....like yesterday. The 49ers are saying he did something really bad to warrant his guarantees being wiped out, yet Aiyuk had no problem with it. The team is winning the PR battle while Aiyuk is being portrayed as an AB nut.

Yup, this is also where I am at.

I mean we got a good bunch here:

Diggs - Should be even better next year being two years removed from his injury.
Boutte - This guy just might be our best WR. I have said this before.
Williams - Year two leap and already making some plays this year (more than Polk/Baker combined in two years).
Hollins - Man, I love this guy.
Douglas - I think he gets lost in the shuffle and lost in the slot when Maye goes outside the numbers. But a good player.
Chism - I can see him making a year two leap.

If we bring in a WR...the guy has to be an ELITE WR...I am talking +100 balls, +1K yards, and +8TD type of guy....(like Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Puka Nacua, JSN, etc...).

This, this, this.

If you can get AJ Brown or Justin Jefferson...tier 1a, go get him. Of course.

Same is true at DL or Edge.

The bar might be lower for a couple of FA OL. But this WR corps is better than advertised, and at least two (perhaps 4) of them haven't gotten near where they could develop.

All WRs have cranial issues. We have one on the roster currently.

I want to know about his knee, can he play in this offense and how good of a teammate they will be.

There are serious claims that it was actually 100 km/h (around 60 mph).
Going 60 on Tasman is fast but not crazy. Lot of stop lights.

Taking the selfie while going 60 was dumb.
