Beat the Texans.
This!

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We need to take care of the business at hand.

The Bills message board was debating who they wanted to win between the Pats-Texans, and it seemed like most of them wanted us to win.

Like the Chargers, they were openly wanting to face the Pats.

Now that the Bills came up short AGAIN, it seems they universally are now wanting the Texans to win.

Salty presumptuous bastages.

There's no such thing as ''house money'' in the NFL. This isn't the NBA, where the margin of error is HUGE (You can lose up to 12 games in the playoffs and still win the championship) and having two star players has a far bigger influence than having two star players in the NFL.

Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson have played for 16 combined seasons and they have zero Super Bowl appearances. The Packers won the SB in the first season of contention with Rodgers, and never made it back in the next 12 years. The Bengals have missed the playoffs the last three years, after reaching the Super Bowl and seemingly being contenders for the following 10 years.

Having a great QB doesn't mean anything. Forget about the Brady/Belichick duo, they were an aberration, not the rule.

There are 32 teams, and every year injuries, luck, refs, bad coaching decisions, bad drafts, in-form rivals, influence the outcome. Just because the Pats have a seemingly great future, it doesn't guarantee playing the SB, your luck can change on a dime, the Commanders made the Championship with a young star QB last year, it was house money, right? Well, they were 5-12 this year and a mile away from the playoffs.

The Pats have a golden opportunity this year, a weak AFC, incredible luck with injuries, tons of injuries to our opponents, including a possible AFCCG against a back-up that has won 1 game as a starter in 7 years. You have to reach and grab the hell out of this opportunity because there might not be a similar one in the next 10 years. There are absolutely no guarantees.
Could not have said it better.

The Bengals, Ravens, Bills, Chargers, & Packers (Rodgers) prove that an elite QB does not guarantee a SB appearance. Let alone a win. A QB could have the physical traits of Mahomes, mind of Brady, and body of Allen. Yet, that guy is not winning anything with bad coaching, terrible receivers, bad GM, defenses etc.

At no point has any rational being said that " having an elite quarterback guarantees a SB appearance." That such a quarterback offers no guarantee in no way logically implies that it is not advantageous to have an elite quarterback. I honestly see no merit in this line of thought at all. Perhaps you mean that you could not have expressed nonsense as well as the OP? If so, congrats.

Huh? I never said having an elite QB guarantees a SB win. Nor have I ever insinuated others said that. I was pointing out teams with elite QB's that have not gotten it done. They have not gotten it done for a variety of different reasons. Some out of their control.

I’m not convinced NE moves on today. They have a shot, which is what you want. But if they are fortunate enough to play the AFCCG with a healthy Drake Maye, I like their chances.
Why would you think that? I am pretty sure they will. Better QB, better coach, better overall system. I think it would be a major disappointment if they didn't actually. And they are at home.

He started half the season... Not 3 practices.

It's not the same.
Foles didn’t come into until the las coupe games of the year.

Some of you guys fall for the rat poison every time, and haven’t learned a single thing from the last 20 years.

To be honest, as I was watching the Denver/Buffalo game, I was thinking we probably would not do well against the Broncos if they won the game, I knew they had a really good D, but I had figured that their offense, with Nix at the helm, would give us the edge. Nix was looking pretty darn good, though, both throwing and running, and their offensive coaching looked superior, which eroded another area in which I thought we would have a major advantage.

Now this, and suddenly they seem much more beatable. Probably both my initial apprehension and now my optimism were and are both overblown. I wish Nix well in his recovery, but I'm gonna wander a little into ******* territory and regard this as good news. Fate is being oddly kind to us this year, but fortune, of course, is a fickle and perverse goddess, with an affinity for irony, who loves to set you up for a fall. On the other hand, somebody is gonna win this thing, and I can't think of an overwhelming reason why it can't - against all preseason expectations - be us.

My other impression was that the NFL really has got to do something about having a bunch of amateurs - old fat guys and unqualified instances of social experimentation - referee their games. I understand it violates macho norms to complain about the refs, but this is ********. The league has been successful in achieving competitive equity, which only makes the role of refereeing proportionally more important. The refs simply play a greater role in the outcome of games, and the quality and professionalism of that aspect of the game has got to be improved to a point commensurate with that increased importance.
The Bills turned the ball over 5 times and still put up 30 points on Denver's defense. That gives me confidence if the Pats get by Houston.

The NYFL has had plenty of games that were decided by bogus calls.

I have zero sympathy for any teams suffering major injuries. Nobody acknowledges all the Pats in injuries in big games throughout the years and fans/media think the Pats just lost fair and square.

This will be extra motivation for both teams as the winning is going to the Super Bowl.

There was a time when this board and Boston pundits discussed whether Stidham might be a worthy successor to TB12, in all seriousness.

That wasn’t the way things went, but don’t underestimate him. He’s better than some QBs we’ve had start here since Brady left.

Underestimating the opponent is a great way to create a trap game.
People discussed that because he was the guy who happened to be here, not because he was a prospect. In all seriousness almost no one answered yes.

Not sure which Patriot Qb you think he is better than. Stidham has been in the NFL 6 years and has started 1 game that he won. That was against Easton Stick and the 5-12 Chargers coached by Giff Smith in week 17.
He wasn’t better than Legarm Newton. He’s not better than Mac Jones or Jacoby Brissett. Zappe had out played him when each had had opportunities

It’s part of the game. Being the best team includes having depth when you have injuries. All teams have injuries. Just like the refs, every fan who’s team loses blames it on injuries.

Who said that it isn't advantageous to have a great QB? I wrote that having one simply doesn't imply that you have ''house money'' years, because the two most decorated QB's of this era after Mahomes are in this league for 8 years and they haven't been to a Super Bowl yet.

''Having a great QB doesn't mean anything'' was admittedly a very poor choice of words, it would mean that whether you have a great QB or not is irrelevant, which is obviously inane, as it's by far the most important position. But having Maye for the future does not mean that missing a wide open AFC is not a big deal, it IS a big deal because you never know when the dealt cards would be this good again, Maye could get injured, he could regress, the team could draft badly, other teams in the AFC could become a lot better, etc..

In what shape is Drew Brees in currently?

If you watched him in preseason at all, you'd know why I'm actually not loving this.
Wait, your fear is rooted in him playing scrimmage minutes against vanilla defenses with players battling to be backups or make a practice squad?
