Jennings does give you a little pile push late in the game.

Yep, that's how I view it. Didn't give you anything special but didn't screw up which is all you could really ask for. Jennings is not really a special player either necessarily, but he has a little power in his legs that can come in handy when coming on in the 4th quarter to help close out a win where you really need some first downs. He probably won't get more than 4 yards most of the time, but he also will rarely get less than 2 yards, which is worth something. Stevenson and Henderson are both good players, but if they get hit at the line they tend to go down.

I thought he was a good one the last couple of years. I still have hope that this coaching staff and can get the best out of him. But it does seem like they've favored Woods.

Woods played 26 snaps in week 12 alone.. So how can he have "only played 22 snaps from week 5-12"? (see snap Woods' snap count from pro-football-reference below)

To the greater point, Woods was the first off the bench from weeks 5-12 while Austin, who played 144 snaps over the first 4 games got zero defensive snaps during that time.

No he played 26 snaps in week 14. He played 22 in the weeks you listed 5-12.

He was ****ing the ball back WITHOUT MOVING substantially <SECOND AFTER a DL is hitting him or BRUSHING AGAINST him.

He needs to cover the ball w 2 & then either scramble, shade left-right -up to a better pocket, or just take the sack.

He has been really good about pocket awareness & Sunday was the anomaly to the last 6 weeks in that regard. He still felt the rushers from 1-3 yards away, but lost cognizance when they were within his arms reach.

He was trying to throw and the ball slipped out of his hand.

That one play in particular you referenced where he got brushed from behind and then tried to recock with the defender still there was bad. He needs to pin that ball to his chest, and take his medicine and live for the next play.
Obv we can’t take his ability to extend plays away, but that one in particular was a bad decision.

His decision was to throw it (possibly throwing it away) and the ball came out of his hand in the throwing motion.
Not sure what people want. If he pulled it down and got sacked and it came out they would be saying he should throw it away.

There is a bizarre tendency in his board to take the guy who had been the best player in the nfl, who has been excellent at ball security and jump at every opportunity to say there is something wrong with him when the other team makes a play. It happens less to him than almost every other qb in the NFL, yet people here haven’t act like he does stupid things.

Was checking out the Texans forum and thought they a smarter group then some of the teams forums I have looked at this season. But then I found this gem of a statement:

"Nico being out may hinder the Pats D because they won't be able to key on anyone. Great opportunity for Higgins to go off."

In what world does having your WR#1 out help you?

So they cut Johnson. Hm. Definitely signals the return of Jennings, since Johnson was active and used a lot on ST and also sprinkled in on offense a bit.

I thought Johnson did a solid job with what he was asked to do, and at least did not screw up, but was really just very average. Jennings might be able to give them a little more pop.

Feel like Jennings could be a much bigger help in the running game BUT Johnson is a better kick returner.

He can be the best QB in the league but still make mistakes, the two things are not mutually exclusive,
That play in particular was a mistake. Even if he was trying to throw it away, the defender brushed him from behind and was still right there. Recocking the ball to throw it anywhere, including out of bounds, was a mistake.

That’s literally not what I do. Dropping the football while throwing us 100% hud fault. Who do you think I’m blaming that on?

Every Qb has bad plays. The point is that this one has far more good plays and fewer bad ones than just about any other Qb out there but as soon as he has a bad play everyone flicks to their keyboard to act as if it some inherent flaw in him.

It just amazes me how fans of a team that has had this season, led by this Qb playing the way he has, can’t wait to try to knock him every chance they get, and insist on THAT being what they harp in after the first playoff win the franchise has had in 7 years.
Especially when he makes more good plays, which I haven’t seen you mention, perhaps I missed it, and fewer bad plays than anyone else.

In this case if the ball didn’t slip out of his hand, the result would have been better than your plan of giving up on plays. Thr decision was fine, the execution went wrong.
