I think Maye tried to do to much and got lose with the football. The Texans got a great defense so the Maye has to pick his spots. I expect they will take care of the ball better and put up more points if the don't turn it over. I am hoping for a big game by May and Diggs.
What did he try to do that was too much? What was any different than what he had done all season? Hes been the best QB in the NFL as well as very good at ball security. We were top 10 in fewest turnovers despite a fluky 5 turnover game (30% of all to in one game).
QBs get hit and from time to time QBs fumble.
Because it happened last game isn’t a reason to change the mentality of the best qb in the NFL.
But it would be great if you could describe where he was doing too much.

Austin hasn't been good this year, but he's not "automatic". His previous body of work shows that he CAN do better. Whether he sees snaps at Special Teams only or also gets snaps on defense remains to be seen.
But the same token woods only played 22 snaps from week 5-12

Woods played 26 snaps in week 12 alone.. So how can he have "only played 22 snaps from week 5-12"? (see snap Woods' snap count from pro-football-reference below)

To the greater point, Woods was the first off the bench from weeks 5-12 while Austin, who played 144 snaps over the first 4 games got zero defensive snaps during that time.

Revenge game for Diggs. Texans cut him loose when he had years left on his contract.

Vrabel used to be their DC.

Pats have other connections now in Houston.

They just signed a former DE from Houston.

This could be a start of a new rivalry.

Can we get a shout-out for CB Charles Woods? Guy is a special teams corner that was brought in midseason and has been called into action as a top 2 outside corner multiple times mid-game when Gonzo or Davis get dinged up and he's really looked perfectly fine.
Agreed.. It's more telling as to what Automatic Austin is as a player. Woods Absolutely could grow into a eventual starter across from Gonzo.. he projects to continue to get better and will challenge for a starting spot in training camp.

Let's not forget Drake's first game as a starter was against Houston as well..

On this day in 2017 the Patriots and Texans met in an AFCDG.
Pats won 34-16.
Dion Lewis set an NFL record with his three touchdowns, as he became the first player in postseason history to score on a catch, a run and a kickoff return.

So they cut Johnson. Hm. Definitely signals the return of Jennings, since Johnson was active and used a lot on ST and also sprinkled in on offense a bit.

I thought Johnson did a solid job with what he was asked to do, and at least did not screw up, but was really just very average. Jennings might be able to give them a little more pop.
He did his job as a practice squad replacement.
He didn't screw it up.

Jennings does give you a little pile push late in the game.

Would love something like this. They can even keep both Rham and Hendo on the field and spread them out. I like both of our RBs against their LBs in coverage.

I was thinking about this last night and putting both out there also really helps their pass protection, and will buy Maye more time.

I find it interesting that both Texans rookie WRs are from Iowa St.

Higgins and Noel both saw action vs Pitt.
I followed them in the draft, both were potential targets for us.
Higgins a bigger bodied WR that went before we drafted KW. Noel went after KW if I remember correctly. Not to dissimilar from KW size and athletic profile.

He was ****ing the ball back WITHOUT MOVING substantially <SECOND AFTER a DL is hitting him or BRUSHING AGAINST him.

He needs to cover the ball w 2 & then either scramble, shade left-right -up to a better pocket, or just take the sack.

He has been really good about pocket awareness & Sunday was the anomaly to the last 6 weeks in that regard. He still felt the rushers from 1-3 yards away, but lost cognizance when they were within his arms reach.

That one play in particular you referenced where he got brushed from behind and then tried to recock with the defender still there was bad. He needs to pin that ball to his chest, and take his medicine and live for the next play.
Obv we can’t take his ability to extend plays away, but that one in particular was a bad decision.
