MVP thread

Stafford is first team all pro, Maye second.

Pretty much means Stafford is the MVP, no one voting for Stafford for all pro is not gonna vote for him for MVP i know something weird happened with Lamar/Allen last year but that was cause they didn't wanna give Lamar a 3rd MVP this is over imo.

Some point today we should get the actual vote breakdown. If it's close, it might flip for MVP, but if it's a huge lead, then, yeah, it'll probably hold. [Voters now vote for both 1st and 2nd team QBs for All-Pro; it's 3 points for the former, 1 for the latter.]

When were the teams announced? Do you have a link?

Sounds like 31 Stafford, 18 Maye, 1 Josh Allen.

They both had great seasons. Not gonna argue with 46 tds to 8 ints and 4700 yards. Especially when it’s a vet with 17 years on his belt.

What Maye did was historic on it own merit, helping to take a team from the bottom of the barrel to king of the mountain. One of the highest completion percentage’s ever, using his legs to get move the chains. Super happy with his development in just year 2.

Not going to concede the MVP to the all pro first team just yet. Great chance Stafford wins because of that but they may take into account the incredible turnaround and flip it over to Maye for MVP.

Either way, both players are obviously worthy. Sure would be something if these two teams met in the superbowl to settle the score.

Yeah. While I agree with our case for Maye winning the award: Stafford’s season checks all the boxes for a season that hold an argument for deserving to win it. I don’t agree that him winning it would be a lifetime achievement award.

What would be the reason a Stafford all pro voter would vote for Maye MVP?

I guess they could say they think Stafford had the better season but Maye was the most valuable since he won more games and did more with less but i'm guessing that would be quite rare, i would be surprised if more than 1 or 2 people out of 50 did that.

My issue with Stafford voters has been when they mention the words "career" and "Maye will get another chance". If you think Stafford had the better season and you vote for him you can't really complain as soon as they mention anything but the 2025 season as a reason they're not fit to vote for things that can effect HOF chances ect.

Maye is the true MVP when you take all of the numbers, efficiency, playmaking, analytics etc into account. However, regardless if he wins it or not, congrats & respect to Stat Paddford on an outstanding season. Hopefully, Maye can still win. Either way, we have a 23 year old All-Pro QB. With that being said, I hope it puts a chip on his shoulder to hoist the real MVP trophy….SB MVP.

IMWT…

You would hope “the lifetime achievement award” isn’t a basis for any win. Sometimes being a veteran with seniority helps though, especially when it’s too close to call.

You are right though, his season was incredible, checks all the boxes as a worthy winner when it all comes down to it.

I really stopped caring about these award. A long time ago.

Theses voters will change their criteria to suit their narrative.

Last year it was Allen was doing more with less and he had a better record than Lamar despite having a worse SOS than Lamar. This year doing more with less don’t matter and it’s only TD and SOS matters.

Next year if the guy they want to win hasn’t thrown the most TD in the league they will find something else.

Maye is the most valuable players this year. Stafford isn’t even the most valuable player on his team. It is Puka.

I was under the impression that the All Pro team was selected by the players through the NFLPA. Also there are several "all pro" teams. The AP has one, The Sporting News has another and I wouldn't be surprised there are more. Is there an "official" one. The one that triggers incentives.

So true about the Stafford/Puka team mvp argument. Highly debatable. We know for a fact that Maye is the MVP of the Patriots. No debate needed.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that if Puka was a Patriot, TD and Yards records would be in jeopardy.

Regardless, great season by both players and a big congrats to Stafford if he does win. I’d be a little sour grapes about it but not too much.

If Stafford was playing for the patriots we wouldn’t have made the playoffs.

Drake bailed us so many times with his legs. Which Stafford can’t do

I don't get why this isn't the single most obvious reason why Maye should get it. He took a team from 4 wins to 14. That is the most literal definition of "Most Valuable Player", none of this is possible without him.

The wild stats are just icing on the cake. I'm tired of hearing about Stafford, good God he's the most B+ boring QB in recent memory and has unreal weapons.

There is no discussion here lol. It's Maye by a mile.

Bijan woulda made third team if they had one

I have never cared at all about the season awards, but this year the talking heads pissed me off. A little over a month ago I heard talking head after talking head saying that the MVP was about winning, and that you needed to at least win your division and be top 2 in your conference to deserve the award. The Rams were atop the NFC at the time and first in almost all power rankings. Then the Rams faltered and all of a sudden it was about how many touchdowns you threw, which is complete ********. There's an Offensive Player of the Year Award for that kind of ****. Maye took the Patriots from 4-13 to 14-3, won the AFCE, and are the 2nd seed in the AFC. Stafford took one of the most talented team's in the NFL to a 5th seed, a jag could have done that. Maye is the MVP.
