Cmon now, they were a pretty good band in the 1980s.
The beach shots in Rio in the Big City Nights video had me glued to the screen as a kid in the 80’s….

I was in Vegas a few months back and when I got in I saw all these old people in black Scorpions shirts. Ends up they were doing a residency at our hotel. Gotta say some of ladies wearing the Scorps shirts with a mini skirt may have looked good 40 years ago, but not so much now.

Well that's on the NFL: if Coordinators come from successful systems and can't translate to a decent HC: there's something wrong with the machine. We can say failure is leading actual success when it comes to most Successful Coordinators. Again something is wrong with the NFL and the Coaching waters are getting dry: nostalgia can only goes so far. Grandpa BB could get a HC Job right now in Today's NFL: that's how bad it is. Teams who stand Pat no pun in this Coaching market should be considered wise. Ps it wouldn't shock me if Old Pete Carroll gets' an interview.
It’s not a failure of the NFL. It’s a result of the NFL having 32 teams compete against each other for 1 champion. The odds are stacked against a new guy taking a bad team and catching up to the competitor and heavily stacked against maintaining it.
It’s a zero sum gain. Every winner create a loser.

Perhaps it’s a good thing that there are a lack of the kind of candidates teams like to hire, because most of those fail.

I would bet fingers and toes given the more than sample size we have on HC Josh.
Other than Harbaugh they all have bad or no track records.
McDaniels did pretty much what every Raider coach has done.
His value is running a good offense with a good qb and in 2 spots he didn’t have a qb.

As one who used to be a professional in that field I agree, thats always good advice, especially for high net worth / high income individuals.

It’s obviously a very simplistic analysis. Doesn’t consider agent fees, if he uses one (as he should), tax professionals and their work, etc. Given his income, professional situation, what we know of his personal situation, etc. his net worth should easily be an eight digit value. Whether it’s $20,000,000 or $50,000,000 doesn’t really matter. He already has enough that he can live on the income and still have enough left over to grow the portfolio.

Especially with the Raiders money still coming in for the next couple of years he doesn’t need to make employment decisions based on salary. That’s the bottom line here.
I agree that no decisions need to be made based on salary and that he should have a sufficient portfolio so that he, his children and grandchildren should be taken care of financially.

I was just being snarky when you seemed to suggest that $20M will easily turn into $30M. Obviously, some folks, especially sports folks, have done very poorly in investing their money.

The Coaching is drying up some because of age BB and Carroll... Reid will be next. Stefanski - Harbaugh and Daboll should get jobs easily. Somebody might give Kliff Kingsbury another chance. Gotta think Brian Flores and Spags from KC deserve a Coaching shot: even Joe Brady from Buffalo.

There are plenty of young, smart, assistant and position coaches out there, we just don't know their names.

I would advise that you don't make financial decisions and that you hire a professional to make those decisions for you.
I think the $30m number is low, but went conservative - e.g., if he invested just $3m of his $8m Denver salary back in 2011 or 2012, that alone would have appreciated by $12-15m.

All this million dollar investment talk
When I’m from the “I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today”

I’ve made 2 decisions in my career based on money (obviously on a minuscule scale compared to what McDaniels would go through), one for a 5k bump in the 1990’s, and one for about 15k in the 2020’s, both times I regretted my decisions. I’ve found piece of mind and happiness are sometimes worth more than money. Luckily I was able to fix my mistake I made in the 2020’s (long story).

That wasn’t me. It was @40yrpatsfan that initially posted his analysis.

But yes, turning $20M into $30M is not hard. It takes discipline and a sound plan. That’s where working with a good professional is valuable. It’s easy to mess it up too, trying to do it yourself is a common mistake, as is falling for shysters who give bad advice. The fact that some folks do very poorly doesn’t mean everybody screws it up. That would be like saying because the Jetes suck the Pats can’t be doing well.

Devin McCourty is speculating Josh McDaniels and Monti Ossenfort already have a deal in place.

God I hope this is not true.

Hopefully it's not true.

I would hope that by now Josh McDaniels realizes his BEST SPOT is to be an offensive coordinator.

He has a good thing going with Drake Maye. I'd be surprised if he leaves a good situation to cotninue chasing a dream that hasn't panned out. Hopefully he realizes being a head coach of a struggling team isn't all roses.

While I can see there being interest in McDaniels given the lack of coaching talent seemingly out there, the question is WHY McDaniels would want to

As it currently stands the Raiders are paying him $10 million a season NOT to play for them and I think if he takes a HC job he probably has to give up a portion of that.

Heck if anything maybe Brady lures him back to the Raiders since they need a head coach and they're already paying McDaniels through 2028!

That was speculated by Simms and Florio Today, and He felt the blood between him and Davis was too bad.

He kept saying he couldn’t see it.
Plus I don’t think his family was happy in Vegas.

For more generational wealth or personal legacy motivations.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

He could take a rich HC job now and take a serious risk of being unemployed in a year or two.... or he could basically co-manage the patriots with Vrabel for 20+years.
Any idea if his LVR contract had offset language? If so wouldn't really make anymore plus all the BS that everyone else alluded to above.

There's no chance JM is leaving in the next three years. Zero.

Jesus I'm a tool sometimes. I was reading this as Mike McDaniels and was like that's interesting but why does have a thread about that?
Ah **** no please.

Someone tell that tool bag down there with the hot ass daughters that McDaniels sucks and he's a womanizer or some other slander.

Whatever it takes NE!

Thanks.

You don’t have any. Josh does
You may be right. Do people reach a point where they turn down big money because they have too much ? I guess I don’t know because I don’t have Josh’s money.

I do think he'd weigh the merits of adding to the bankroll by taking a **** job as opposed to the really pain free job here as OC. I just don't think he's going to need to jump at it like it's a lottery ticket. It's not like he's working check to check. Yes, it's a lot of money, but he's already making a lot of money and has made a lot of money. What's the price up rooting the family? Of rebuilding? Of having the focus solely on him? He's in a great situation now. Arizona is not that at all.

I’ll sleep better, when these HC slots are all filled.

Again I’m the rebel who wanted to Keep Josh over Bill.

When was the last time the Cardinals were any good? Was it when they got the third act of Kurt Warner's career?

Outside of the gambling aspect there aren't many people that actually like living in Vegas to be real. I was there for 3 weeks for Red Flag and I was ready to leave by the end.

I think most of the people who live in Vegas don't spend a lot of time in the Vegas we all think of when we visit.
