Patriots Injury News The Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins on IR

My wild guess is that he got appendicitis and had appendectomy this week. Tracing the timeline from his enthusiastic last play celebration to abdominal injury reports from missing practice, this hypothesis sounds plausible.
Somebody posted spleen, but then there is is this -

You're acting like the season is over. There are two games left and at least one play-off game. We should be getting Williams, Spillane, and Campbell back. That's some pretty big reinforcements.
Totally agree

While this is completely speculative, it seems it was Maye’s winning aura that gave way to Mack’s injury. The organization should meet with Maye & suggest him to tone it down a bit..I don’t see it happening, as Maye’s been stubborn in that regard, but maybe he’ll take heed for the benefit of the team…Idk, what do you guys think?

Don't understand what happened, but maybe showed symptoms afterwards?
He's a lot better than the Cult gave him credit for, and will be missed.
Let's go Ghism...

Its living in a fantasy world to suggest that Pop, Chism and Williams will take up where Hollins left off.

Little Pop is having an off season and Williams is a race horse WR and not a middle of the field Laborer WR like Hollins. Williams has only seen 16 targets all season and caught 7 for a 44% catch rate. That's not clutch. Chism is the 5' - 10" Great White Hope. To date, 0 targets and after hardly playing 25 snaps on offense all season. Chism is going to come in and save the day?

McDaniels will have to look to Rahm and Hendo is the pass game.
Yup, we will have to adjust, something stats can't show.
Ring thinks a "better" WR will come in and we won't miss a beat, that's pretty ridiculous.
Each WR has a role, and Mack fills his role exceptionally well, but no other WR on our roster is coming in and filling that same role, a role that is integral to the offense.
Again, you can't measure that by stats.

I think that the "logic" underlying the rule means it isn't going to change: they want to equalize the minimum "cost" of IR-DTR, so that teams don't get "lucky" for having a bye at the right time.
I was referring to changing it for the play-offs. Not the regular season. Just like the elevations reset for the play-offs.

More Tight End

LOL..unfortunately, there’s nothing like 69ing..
I can just see Gronk sporting a 69 jersey with the changes that the League has made to numbers.. lol

Yep. Henry’s gonna be Hoopin’
We haven't really been an underneath offense this year.
Wonder if today we see more of it.
I would expect a huge dose of the run game. Run it until you can't.

I concur. I think the Sons of RANarchy (all 3 combined) go for 200+ today.

I understand that. My point is that I think they've decided the logic should be the same even for the playoffs. I'm not saying it shouldn't change (I can see a case for both sides of the argument), just that I don't think it will anytime soon.

Of course you can. You can quantify the role by production, which was mediocre per reps played. You can look at the alternatives and see they are any combination of 4 guys who are better receivers getting those reps.

Do you really think Josh McDaniel calls the exact same plays regardless of who is on the field and pre-created “roles” and fits people into them regardless of their skill set?

Did Giardi just miss a word or two in transcribing, or has Vrabel forgotten how to speak English?
I presume the weirdness here (around "something he") is b/c he didn't want to say what the health issue was.
