We may have lucked out a bit with Elijah Moore per one of the talking heads, don’t remember which one.

He said that Moore was recently cut by the Colts and may actually be completion for Gibbs’ spot next season.

Sounds like some good fortune this late in the season.
Did you mean Elijah Mitchell? Cut by the Chiefs not the Colts?

I agree.

While I agree, he is on the Practice Squad. Anyone can poach him if we don't sign him to the 53. I would think that he is more valuable than Johnson.

Also, I expect that Johnson would be safe on the Practice Squad.

Per sources, Patriots Pro-Bowl QB Drake Maye has allegedly gifted his entire team/organization 12 wins & a playoff berth as a kind gesture for the holiday season, as well as their contributions to the team. However, many in the facility have reportedly become increasingly ungrateful with his altruism and also imperious; demanding nothing less than a Super Bowl victory even if it means receiving their gifts six weeks from now. More details on this story shortly.

Stayed tuned…

without Williams and Spillane, Campbell, Boutte and Wilson are we clearly better than #8?
I wasn't aware that rankings factored in the talent on the injury list. I thought they reflected the accomplishments of the team up to the day of the ranking. And Williams, Campbell, and Wilson had been on the injury list in preceding weeks, yet Brady pushed the Patriots down two places after a victory in an away game against a dangerous opponent. The Pats are tied for the best record in the NFL. Brady putting them at number eight says more about him than it does about New England.

I think that we are back to the Brady days. We have a superhero QB and everyone should think that we are the best. If Maye, Diggs, Williams, Spillane were all out, should we be rated #1? Of course not.

I don't agree, but your idea on Power Ranking meaning that the strength of a team if everyone were 100% healthy is a perfectly good definition.
=======
Brady is saying that on a neutral field and given the current players available seven team should be favored over us. The bettors agree with Brady and they are betting real money. BUF was favored over us. BALT was favored over us. If all our players were healthy, we would have been favored in those games., perhaps by a TD.
=================
A team is as good as the team that can be put out there on a given day.
===========
Consider a team that is pre-season #1 and has the top QB in the league. In Game 1. their top 10 QB is insured with an ACL and likely won't be back until at least Week 10. Their top defender is injured and put on IR for at 6 weeks in the second game. Per your reasoning, this team should stay at #1.
=======
To be clear, you seem to be saying that our Power Ranking should be the same even if Campbell, Williams, Tonga and Wilson were out for the year. I strongly disagree.

One extreme is to rate the team as if everyone were healthy and playing.

The other extreme is to presume that the team should be rated as if injured players aren't coming back.

A middle ground is to rate the team understanding given that one unknown is how much anyone injured with contribute.

Elijah Moore??? The WR who went from the Jets to the Browns to the Bills, couldn't hack it with Buffalo, was cut and was signed to the Broncos Practice squad?

Do you mean Elijah Mitchell? The RB the Pats signed to the PS? Mitchell was with KC and was just waived by them after doing nada all year.

Neither Moore nor Mitchell have been with Indy this year.

Elijah Moore:

Elijah Mitchell:

Elijah Mitchell hasn't done anything since his rookie year with the 49ers. That was back in 2021. He'll be fighting with Lan Larison for a roster spot IF Mitchell earns a Futures deal.

Antonio Gibson (not Gibbs) has nothing to worry about from Mitchell. Gibson needs to focus on being healthy by the time Training Camp rolls around.

I’m thinking you both are way too focused on word POWER in rankings discussion. Yes, like MgT said a power ranking is naturally a bit more PAST PERFORMANCE + some Current STATUS (injuries) based.
But as NormZ alluded to, this is about Brady‘s OPINION of how things may play out in post season, not necessarily ‚ power‘ or factual assessment of team strength+schedule projection (stealing the bye from DEN could change his opinion).

And that is why they will likely have to give up a 2nd day draft pick along with Tua to get a deal done
Why DB? Do you think some team will give Miami draft assets AND take on Tua's contract too. It is more likely they will cut him OR keep him next year and let him try and fight for a role for another year.

Regardless, they are pretty much tucked next year no matter what they do.

BTW, the Xmas results were a gift to Vrabel. The KC and DC results showed how even decimated roster with even 3rd string QBs can be literally a TO away front a win if you don't pay attention to business. Plus if you don't take care the ball you will ALWAYS lose the game like the Lions did.

It will be a LOT easier to get that message across than if the expected results happened.
