To be fair: the “soft part of the schedule” applies to the pats entire schedule
So one could make the same point that the pats easy schedule has deluded fans into thinking pats are a good team

The person who is " delusional" Sam is you. You have been wrong about everything but continue to spew your negative ******** as though it were fact. You know absolutely nothing about football, and demonstrate that every time you run your miserable piehole. Keep talking **** Sam, because every time you do the opposite of what you say comes true. The Patriots are going to be in contention for the 15-20 years, and every time you try to jump on that bandwagon, or try to celebrate their success, I will be there to remind you of just how full of **** you really are.

Ewers isn’t that good either, but he does fit Mike McDaniel’s system a bit better. However, he’s small, has very poor mechanics & subpar arm talent. We’ll be fine.

Those ownenu, rham, Dugger, Barmore contracts were handed out becuase of the publicity the organization was getting out of being last in cash spending.. it's not so much that they were such awesome players.. also according to the CBA the team had to spend cap dollars..
That plus Belichick's refusal to not nickel-and-dime good players plus their complete whiff on free agency that year.

I believe Wilson is moving to C next season anyway.. so New LG and new RG, Campbell and Bryant will be the OTs..
sounds like a plan to get back out of the playoffs for 2026; just get rid of Bradbury, Onwenu and Moses and move Wilson to a position he hasn't played in the NFL and hope that the new OL will come together by midseason or more likely in 2027.
=============================================
Vrabel doesn't even think that Bryant is better than Munford and you would have him as a starter? You do remember that Bryant is so good that he was inactive as Munford came in to immediately be our swing OT?

You would spend lots of cap money to improve us at LG.

You would save a bit of cap money and HOPE that the new veteran RG is better than Onwenu.

Miami is currently 30 million over the cap for next year.
Hill will be gone.

That's just a start.

I guess the issue is Tua. If they truly want to move on and start over, they need to get anyone to take him in trade, probably after a major restructure. What they really don't want is for him to get injured next year.

This was the reason which I highlighted in bold. Pats have a deadline to spend cap dollars and those players where in the right place at the right time.

So far the Pats are 3-2 against teams .500 and above with two of those wins on the road. It could be 4-2 with a win Sunday night and depending on how the Ravens, Bucs and Panthers finish. They were the opposite in 2001. The Pats lost 4 straight times to teams .500 and above before barely beating the Jets on the road and the Dolphins at home. They ended up winning the Super Bowl.

Hill's contract is not so easy to move.

They can cut him, it's a 30 million cap hit.
They can trade him, it's 30 million in base salary for whomever takes him on.

Tua should realistically retire. Sure he loves the game. But he's a young man with a family and generational wealth should he continue to remain in the NFL he's probably a back up on a team. After all he's endured with head injuries.

There's life after the NFL he could go into the media or plenty other avenues connected to the game. He should entertain the thought.

While true, this doesn't tell the whole story.

The only reason Hill has any 'savings against the cap' at all, is because his money next year is almost entirely in base salary. And they'd still be paying massive dead cap hits the next two years.

So technically yes it's a 'savings', but there are still gigantic cap hits to deal with either way.

Miami is completely and totally ****ed. I'm here for it.

I appreciate your expounding on the further ****ery of the fins.

Hill counts $51M towards the cap in 2026 which is 11th in the NFL for all positions. He's getting the most in cash for a WR at $36M. He will be a post June 1st cut. He'll probably go back to KC.

We'll know KC is high on their own supply if they bring him back and pair him with the elderly Kelce and the gimpy Mahomes.

Stranger things have happened. They are trying to get a new stadium deal done. Name recognition matters.
