Brady did the exact same thing many moons ago when he had the “5 layers of protection” on his credit card. If they wanted him, he made the company do a commercial with his linemen.

First thing I thought of when I saw that article about Drake sharing the NIL deal with his OL was that Brady commercial. I’m sure Drake has studied everything about Brady for years. Nice to see he picked up on this aspect too.

The Vikings offered 3 first round picks plus pick swaps later, which a number of people here called " the haul," and wanted them to take, and the Giants offered 2 first round picks and a 3rd to move from 6 to 3. I was opposed to the Patriots taking any trade offers and wanted them to pick Maye. And I said in a post the other day that I wouldn't take any trade offer for Maye, period, I wouldn't take 10 first round picks for him.

Just located the 24'' draft day thread. You were definitely on the Maye bandwagon from the beginning, but the news isnt so good for other fans. @FreeTedWilliams called him a " sure fire bust." And there's more where that came from.....

We picked Drake because he was the absolute, 100% obvious choice at that point in the draft, given our draft position and preceding picks. It seems to be that trying to portion out "credit" for doing the blatantly obvious is a waste of time. I also have to say that giving Mayo credit anything seems like stretch. I don't feel great saying that - he is a "nice guy," which turned out alas to be his only "qualification": for the job - but what, really, did he do to demonstrate any degree of competence at any aspect of his job as HC?

I'm giving the credit to Wolff as we've learned Mayo had no freaking clue what kind of player he wanted in the draft.

It was just a no brainer.

If you were going to do anything other than take a top 3 QB in that position, you need to exit the football personnel business. As much as they bust (30% of the time), you have to grab those QBs when you have an opportunity.

Maye came out in a year in which there were 3 bonafide studs who did not require fancy projections (Trey Lance, Zach Wilson) based on combine heroics. In those 2 different years, you had 4 QBs with all the bonafides (I'm including Lawrence) and it looks like only one of them is going to be underwhelming (Lawrence).

Personally I think Caleb Williams and Daniels will both be superstars in this league, both will be top 6 or 7 QBs, and I've said that since even before they were drafted. If the teams redrafted knowing everything we know now, Maye would go first, but at the end of the day, there was nothing wrong with the evaluation on draft day.

Daniels and Williams are going to be just behind Maye at the top of the league with only Josh Allen, Burrow and Mahomes in the same conversation.

The 6 of them will have cleared Herbert, Lamar, Jordan Love and Stroud.

Nix is going to just be an above average QB. I never liked Penix and McCarthy is still a question since he seems to be lost like a young Darnold.

Of the others we're talking about here, I honestly thought Nix would be the one. He isn't as good as I thought he would be. Nix ha da ton of experience, he has a super strong arm, and in college he was pretty accurate. If you compared his experience and his arm to Daniels, you wouldn't have been off for thinking he was a good pick.

Penix threw falling backward off his back leg too much in college and he then watched his 3 WRs high point the ball, so I don't know what Atlanta saw in him, because to me it didn't look good.

If I were to rank them back then, I would've gone:

1. Caleb
2. Daniels
3. Maye.....

Teams without a QB cannot afford to pass on QBs like Maye.

It may not work out, but it's hard to find a QB, teams like the Jets and Bills and Phins went 25 years without one, so you gotta take him.

A blown first round pick is not anywhere near as bad as passing on a future stud and then never finding a QB. That's misery. Anyone who did such a thing should be fired immediately.
