This was THE tone-setter of the season, remindful of the Bryan Cox-Pathon trucking all those years ago. I was privileged to witness both of them live. But the way this necklace-adorned punk QB was sent airborne is worth savoring. Glorious.

And in case you missed it 24 year ago ...

Watching the game, that’s exactly what came to mind — that he’s Punky McMilferson all over again. And then his “I’m not changing how I play” press conference afterwards sealed it. This guy has more football talent than Punky, but if he doesn’t change his attitude then he’ll be backup QB for the Browns in 4 years.

Gus Johnson on the call. HA-HA!

I loved it.

You can tell both Joe Buck and Troy Aikman totally saw it for what it was, a tone setter.

Joe's call: "And Dart goes... aaaaand GETS POPPED! and we're gonna get a FIGHT!"

You can picture Troy sitting back stroking his chin as he says "you know, to me it looks like a legal hit" with Joe agreeing immediately.

So, take that, you ****y Vagiants, you just saw what it's like to be DOMINATED!

Even the retired ref seemed to enjoy saying Dart was a runner and in bounds so it was a legal hit.

Just think, this is what football looked like every weekend in the 1970s.

There was still enough content for Boomer and Tom Jackson to do their Jacked Up segment every week in the early 2000s.

Thank god Vrabel drafts and coaches players who can deliver hits like Ellis does.

Good, clean, legal, but also, violent!

Pfiefer, Pleasant, Cox: Those guys could hit!

A guy who retired due to concussions, mind you.

IMMEDIATELY said it was a good hit.

Also pointed out repeatedly that it's a QB's job to protect himself and not expose himself to such hits.

Looks like he's learned his lesson and is passing it on to others.

EDIT: Another point is they were already talking about how Dart was exposing himself to hits earlier in the game.

They also mentioned that the league has been warning QBs that being douches and using the sideline to take a few extra yards because the defenders are afraid to get penalized will no longer be tolerated.

So, yeah, ironic that Troy was the one raising the point, but do think he is seeing the bigger picture correctly.

I do miss the 70's violent action but don't miss the injuries and concussions so I think overall the rule changes that protect QBs and defenseless receivers are for the better.

Aikman made the comparison to McMahon of Chicago, and I thought that was a really great comparison.

That game was truly the definition of a collective team effort in domination.
