Why should the Patriots fear any team?

Teams run like crazy on the Bills. They've also played some bad QB's. Only explanation I have for the best pass defense stat. They do not pass the eye test whatsoever.

IF the Patriots play mistake free, exploit the other teams offense, and get good head coaching, they will win 90% of the time. Maybe 95%. I know that is cliche. But it's the only thing I have lol. Alot easier said than done.

Because we know at the start of the season that some teams rate to be good and some bad. So that's useful information - you don't simply assume at the start of the season that the Jets and Kansas City are equally likely to win the Super Bowl. But then as the season progresses you update your odds. They do account for personnel changes - presumably that's subjective.

The Pats' ratings have been steadily climbing for the past 10 weeks on all these stat sites.
It’s not the start of the season

Atlanta lost to the Jets today. lol.
Raheem Morris has to get fired again, right? How many failures before we stop hearing how great a HC candidate he is?

This is a strange season in the NFL, there is no dominant team to have to get by, so the tournament is going to be wide open. The Patriots can beat anyone and they could lose to anyone, so it's just going to come down to whether they can play their best football for a month straight when it matters most. Either way they should end up getting really valuable experience playing in big games. They are way ahead of schedule and are already a serious contender, and should be for years and years to come.

We are #1 in the majority of power rankings this week and I can’t say I disagree. Nobody looks better.

Once or twice a decade the league seems to hit a cusp period where several typically dominant teams decline at once and a few new perennial contenders emerge. We last hit this point around 2018 - 2020, before that it was 2011 - 2013. We could be reaching the next big turnover.

During these periods, there is always a wonky year where the tournament could be anyone's. This certainly seems like one of those years. To identify a champion in this type of season, you look away from the conventionally dominant QBs (Mahomes, Allen, Jackson) and towards the teams that clearly do one or more things better than anyone else in the league. From this lens, I see six true contenders - New England, Houston, Denver, Green Bay, LA Rams, Seattle.

I'd say the Patriots and Rams stand way out over the rest. I'd call us the #2 contender right now.

If the Patriots defense can consistently play the way they did last night they can beat anyone. With a quarterback like Drake Maye you are always in any game, they just need to have consistently good performances on defense and special teams.

They have consistently played the way they played last night

They will be better once Williams and Tonga are back.

My response was to a post about the defense, but agreed.
