Why should the Patriots fear any team?

Play aggressive, play smart, limit mistakes and turnovers… they can beat anyone.

There’s no team so dominant this season anyone should fear.

The stats nerds have no great love for the Pats (but do respect Maye)

I find those ratings disrespectful to Maye

I find all these stats confusing. Just more obfuscation. I think I failed statistics.

Jackson on top, then Allen and then Maye clustered with a few others. Not unreasonable.

These statistics incorporate history, so the others all started the year well above Maye. Same is true for the Patriots as a whole. So not everyone starts at 1500 (average) - there is limited carryover from prior season but then things rapidly adjust based on off-season moves and actual games and even betting odds. So it attempts to use all available information.

That’s the problem. Those purport to show predicted performance for week 13 games, so recent performance is most meaningful and past years are outdated. Jackson’s performances this year have done little to merit him being viewed as the best QB next week. Maybe the flaw is the because he was out injured his past years are overweighted compared to the others?

The biggest headache in this sort of prediction game is how much to weigh recent performance vs. historical performance. No perfect way to do it.

Why would other years with different players be included in this years teams?
2025 hackson and Allen should not be ahead of 2025 Maye

The Rams. Another team too good to lose, that just did.

I've held my tongue, hoping the Pats would improve and set themselves up for a successful future. Assuming a healthy roster, this week's results is the first time I've allowed myself to believe that they could win the Super Bowl this season.

There’s one team the Patriots should fear.

It’s the team they see when they look in the mirror.

That’s the team most likely to beat them.

Because we know at the start of the season that some teams rate to be good and some bad. So that's useful information - you don't simply assume at the start of the season that the Jets and Kansas City are equally likely to win the Super Bowl. But then as the season progresses you update your odds. They do account for personnel changes - presumably that's subjective.

The Pats' ratings have been steadily climbing for the past 10 weeks on all these stat sites.

And they already did twice this season.

And they already did twice this season.
Might be a blessing in disguise. Can you imagine how crazy things would be getting if they hadn’t?
