Out of curiosity, what makes you think that Rupcich will get the call over Brenden Jaimes for the Back-up center/guard role?
I didn't put much thought into it, to be honest; was just going off the top of my head.

Forgot about Jaimes.

How do you feel about those two?

So basically what we have is:

Starting LT: Vederian Lowe replaces Will Campbell
Backup OT: Caeden Wallace replaces Vederian Lowe
GameDay Inactive: Thayer Munford replaces Caeden Wallace

Starting LG: Ben Brown temporarily replaces Jared Wilson
Backup LG: Andrew Rupcich/Bill Murray may be a game-day elevation

Backup CB: Charles Woods replaces Alex Austin
Depth CB/ST: Miles Battle replaces Charles Woods
The open question is WALLACE.

THESE HAVE BEEN SIX OF THE EIGHT ACTIVES EVERY WEEK
LT: Lowe
LG: Brown
C: Bradbury
RG: Onwenu
RT: Moses, Bryant

THE FOLLOWING HAVE BEEN ELEVATED
OG/C Brenden Jaimes (elevated once)

THE FOLLOWING HAVE BEEN INACTIVE IN EVERY GAME
Wallce

THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE 53
LT: Munford

PICK TWO TO BE ACTIVE
Wallace
Munford
Jaimes
Murray
Rupcich

CONSIDERATIONS
Wallace has never been active and could have been when Wilson went down earlier.
Munford was signed to 53 as a backup LT (I don't think that they trust Bryant in that role yet) and we need an active LT backup.
Jaimes has been elevated before and has experience at both C and LG.

MY CHOICES FOR THE TWO ADDITIONAL ACTIVE OL'S
1) MUNFORD active as our OT instead of WALLACE.
2) JAIMES elevated as the backup at C and LG instead of the others

WHY ALL THE CAPS???
I've used cap for emphasis for over 50 years. I sometimes use bold. I also tend to be overly long.

Feel free to ignore me if the caps bother you so much.

Many choose not to read my posts. That's fine.

He’s physically gifted enough to play the position. His problem has been technique and desire.
I don’t think he’s been lacking in desire. What makes you think so?

Might get Munford game day elevation as backup OT with Wallace as backup G. Reportedly Wallace has worked exclusively as guard not tackle.

Is caeden wallace onwenu replacement?

Maybe he lacks the desire to fix his technique? I actually think he will play better than last season. I think he will surprise some people. We are going to know soon.

I think he needed help with his technique, as most players do. Don’t think it’s his fault that coaching last season fell short of providing that.

I agree with your expectations. Mine are similar

You are the Zen master of angioplasty
I am the first male of my paternal line going back to my grandfather to make it past 50. And right on cue I had my heart attack at 48 and my first stents the same year. Then my open heart surgery at 55. Then all the angioplastys to my legs and heart to keep me walking and breathing.

Modern medicine IS amazing and I'm 30 years past my due date and benched 220 three times on Monday . Go figure. Quite frankly I didn't think having 15 angioplastys would be noteworthy . I figured everyone with vascular disease has a lube job every few years just like a car.

We call what you have a "full metal jacket", Ken.

150 years ago I would have been born deaf; nearly blind; and likely crippled legs. Life expectancy likely much lower than your paternal line had. So I can only say ditto ... Lucky we were born in the age we were/are in, with all the modern miracles.

I have no idea about them beyond their positional listings. We didn't have either of them in Training Camp. I could tell you want their Scouting Reports looked like coming out of College, but that was 3 years ago for Rupcich and 5 years ago for Jaimes.

Rupcich - OG/OT
Jaimes - OC/OG.

We know that Brown is the #2 OC and #2 OG. Wallace is the #3 OG. We have no idea if Wallace is on the OT depth chart.
It's my assumption that Jaimes is the #3 OC.

Jaimes played 4 games at Center for the Chargers in 2023.

The question that the Pats are faced with is this:

With Brown being the replacement at LG, is he still your #1 option to back-up at OC in the event Bradbury goes down? If the answer is yes, then having another OG is prudent and it would likely be Rupcich getting a game day elevation. If the answer is "No", then Jaimes is the one getting the elevation, but he's only got 2 elevations remaining since he was elevated for the Panthers game.

Now, here is where it gets more complicated. Rupcich's only game experience on Offense has been at RG. He has special teams experience on the field goal team playing at different positions.

Bill Murray's snaps with Chicago came at LG.

I think that the Pats will go to Jaimes as game day elevation because the last thing they'll want is being in a situation where they have to ask someone with zero experience to be the center.

Dane Brugler on Rupcich back in 2022:

Dane Brugler on James in 2021:

Munford is on the 53. He's not eligible for "Game Day Elevation".

With Wilson injured and not on IR, That gives the Pats 8 healthy O-linemen.
Lowe, Wallace, Brown, Bradbury, Onwenu, Moses, Bryant, Munford.

Currently Wallace is the only back-up they have for the interior 3 spots. Game Day elevation is likely either Jaimes or Rupcich.

You don't always see/appreciate the work a guy on the OL does. Until...he is not in there of course.

Patriots might need to reconsider long developing passing plays with Lowe in there. Maybe a run first game Monday. Week 15 will likely need to be a passing game.
Running the ball may be a wise idea on Monday night anyway, as the Giants can’t stop anyone running on them.

The upcoming Buffalo game is another one where defending the run is our opponents glaring weakness.

Henderson and Rham should be very busy boys over the next few weeks!

That’s what everyone was saying about Cinci. That goal line push suggests something is awry.

the bengals stat line between the Pats game and the rest of their games has been, for the most part, remarkably consistent... we may have swung and missed on the goal line, but that stuff happens... its not like we've never seen a goal line stance win out before... honestly, I think we all, to a degree, underestimated the Bengals D and were expecting less fight and more flight from them... they get paid too, ya know?

The Gintz gave up a TD once on a run on the banks. Then another one on a run in a lady's stockings. I was rushing out the door once and they gave up 52 yards to me.

Okay... on the Campbell timeline, we play the Gintz, with a D so porous there are sponges with less permeability. Then we play nobody, which is only slightly tougher than the Gintz D, taking us up to 3 weeks post-injury (although the eligibility clock doesn't count byes, and started mid-week, so earliest eligibility is W18.

After the bye we get the Bills at home, followed by the Ravens in Ballmer. Then we finish with the JEST and LOLphins. I think you figure him into these games because we haven't seen the DVOA over Lowe/Munford.

Barring letdown games, I think that puts us potentially at anywhere from 4-2 to 6-0, for a final record of 13-4 to 15-2. Throw in one unexpected loss and that's 12-5 on the low end. For Campbell the question is whether there's any reason to bring him back in the regular season for a win against the LOLphins.

If we take care of business in a non-Campbellian universe, maybe we'll have the conference sewn up by week 18, and can pick between a pre-playoffs tuneup game or an extra 2 weeks of R&R. But it just feels like positioning will still hang in the balance by week 18. That said, Vrabes seems to think it's a no-brainer that he'll be available by then.
