Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

Get Tatum back and a full season for role players like Minott and Gonzalez and the team is pretty darn good. Big remains a concern though even with Queta getting better.

I feel like we lost some of that defensive intensity last season. We seem to be getting it back with high motor guys trying to prove themselves

Fine or suspension? It's Boston, so I'm guessing suspension.

And when you continue to attempt more 3-point shots than 2-point ones, then you have a really ****ed-up organizational philosophy.

So no fine or suspension but the refs are seriously messing with Brown now. The Orlando game down in Orlando was particularly bad, with the best example of their ****ty calls being the play where Brown got fouled hard by two different Magic players on his way to a dunk. The refs blew their whistle but then decided against making the right call. Scalabrine was going ballistic over it.

Is there such a thing as a "running coach"?? Luka Garza really looks goofy when he tries to run. The worst part is his first few steps. How did someone et so far in the NBA being so inept at running up the floor?

Another reason why the Brad never should've acquired him.

I don't see this team going anywhere this year with the way the refs are sticking it to Jaylen Brown. Yesterday's game against the Clippers was a joke. Harden, the foul machine, got call after call after call... well, you get the idea. Brown? Fouled - no call - fouled - no call - you get the idea there too.

Just once, please refs, just once... can you call a lane violation on a Brown free throw??? There is one on EVERY Brown free throw. On some, the players are all under the hoop before the ball leaves his hand. I get that he has a rather slow & deliberate free throw motion, but that shouldn't allow free reign for the opposing players to distract his shot by stepping early shot after shot after shot.

And BTW, you can't tell me that Brown doesn't follow social media. He's been getting ridiculed for quite a while now for bumping his head into opposing players and leaving black marks from his hair paint/color. Yesterday, it was obvious that he didn't have any hair product.

Queta out for a bit with a nasty ankle sprain. They called up Amari Williams for today's game against the Pistons, a team riding the longest win streak in the team's history (13 - tying the 1990 & 2004 squads). The Pistons play hard and I just don't see the Cs winning this one unless the younger players have career nights.

Normally, this is where I'd bemoan the loss of Kornet & Horford, but Kornet hasn't been doing much down in San Antonio & Al Horford has done even less for the Warriors. To be honest, I thought Horford was going to hang up his sneakers after last season but I guess he couldn't pass up the money.

Hauser has to wake the hell up. I'm beginning to regret saying that they were right to keep him for his points to offset Tatum's loss. He's shooting like crap right now (33%) and it's hurting the team when he's out there. He's certainly not playing like someone who just signed a 4 year extension for $45 Million. I could see them moving him soon.

Problem with the Cs is they didn't do what was right. They should have traded Hauser, White etc and shot to the top of the draft and keep Tatum on ice until next season. Instead they are trying to have it both ways and that was the mistake. A young stud to match with Tatum and Brown is worth its weight in gold. It was a perfect opportunity for it. Single star teams don't do much in this league. Actually they do nothing.

Normally I'd agree with this but... there have been some ****ty draft picks at the top of the NBA draft for many years. The NBA draft is just as much of a crap shoot as the NFL draft. For every Jason Tatum, there are many more Jett Howards, who was a lottery pick in 2023. The Magic are not even picking up his 4th year option. That whole 1st round of the 2023 draft, other than Wemby & Miller and maybe Keynote, is not turning out to be a great 1st round.

You are not going to find a Derek White in this year's draft. Sure he's having an off year shooting, but his defense and shot blocking skills are some of the best in the league.

First off - Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Wow! What a great win. That was clutch. White finally came alive from behind the line. White was key to the win. 27 clutch points including 6 3's and great defense including 3 steals, one big time near the end and 1 block. Brown had a killer first quarter and ended up with 33, including 7/8 from the FT line. He should've had 50 if not for... you guessed it - horrible refereeing.

Here's the thing about these Pistons - they're physical and aren't bashful about it. There should be a call whenever anyone drives to the hoop because they don't give anyone an uncontested drive. But they're like the 2014 Seahawks secondary - they foul every time until they wear out the refs. The refs figure they can't blow the whistle every time the Pistons foul because they'd all foul out by halftime. So instead, we get this weird game where the Celtics, especially Brown, are getting fouled left and right going to the hoop without getting the call while the Celtics defenders brush the hip of Cade Cunningham and the whistles go off. One of the worst calls was during clutch time where White clearly tied up the Pistons player for a jump ball but the ref BEHIND the players - he could not see that ball at all - called a foul instead. Terrible call.

Can someone clarify something for me? Is it OK to foul someone after getting ball on a layup/dunk? Earlier this season, a Celtics player blocked a dunk attempt - all ball - but then hit the dunker's arms. A foul was called on the C's player and Scalabrine said it was the right call. He said, and I'm paraphrasing, "You can still foul after blocking the ball cleanly. Getting the ball first doesn't allow you free reign to foul after". Last night, two Celtics players got "blocked" on dunks and on both of them, the C's player was crushed - one time by two Pistons players. The announcers - man, were they rooting for the Pistons - were going on and on about how it was all ball but ignoring the fact that the Pistons nearly smashed the players to the floor on the follow through. I just don't get it. Imagine if the NFL adopted this? A QB gets the ball tipped and that means a player can crash into him without a call.

After the Wolves game in which he took an elbow to the jaw Brown said: “As a team, I think we’re last in free throw attempts. Me personally, I’m one of the more aggressive downhill players in the league. Night to night it’s the same thing. I don’t get it. Tonight I shoot four free throws and I’m aggressive the whole game."

Jalen - we get it. We do. The refs don't like Boston.

I don't like that uniform, I know that.

In a game in which he had 41, 6rebs, 7 asts and 5 steals.

That was a good win. It's good to see the younger guys stepping up. Hugo & Walsh were big during the C's runs. It's a bit of a bummer to see Hauser getting beat by these kids though. Even Minot was taking (and mostly hitting) more shots than Sam.

The thing about this game that had me shaking my head was the way the Knicks played. They started out playing "big" with The Big Cat going hard to the hoop and stretching their lead to 13 through most of the 1st quarter but then he got a stupid foul and hit the bench. The Celtics took off after that and never looked back.

Did I miss the news about an injury to Luka Garza? He hasn't had his number called much these past few games. Maybe they want to see what Walsh can do? I'm digging Walsh's play. He a mean defender with an insane reach. He's been put on every team's top scorer, which shows that Mazzulla knows he's got that in him.

Too bad the C's don't have a shot blocker like this.

Yep... Too bad also that The Brad - like Danny before him, but even more so now - and especially his HC despise Big men.

Another great game for Jordan Walsh. The Lakers without LeBron or Luca are just... not very good. Good to see the threes falling again.

But that floor! It almost made my eyes bleed. Does anyone know why it looked so bright? Was it the Amazon broadcast or was it the floor? It was very bright. It wasn't a cup game, so its not that. I really hope it's not a new floor that they plan to use for the rest of the season.
