Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

I wish Davison all the best. Good guy. I hope he does well.
I do too. I was actually looking forward to him getting some time on the floor this year, especially when they signed him to a two year contract, but I guess they figured they had enough guys at that position.

That was an inauspicious start to the 2025/26 season. I was not at all impressed by this start. The biggest disappointment was Peyton Pritchard. 6/14 with 1/7 from beyond the 3-point arc? TWO chances to win the game and.... choke. WTF dude?

I guess the starting 5 is an indicator of what they're looking for this year, especially with Queta starting at center. Queta is a good bench player who played 3rd string last year. Now he's a starter? He fouled out with several minutes to go.

Sorry guys, but if this game is any indication, we're in for a long year here.

I feel PP is more effective coming off the bench where he can play more loosely. He's struggling right now.. Simmons should be starting.. really love the young kid Hugo plays with high energy.. I'd also say for defensive purposes boucher should probably be given a chance to start to help with rebounding and shot blocking around the rim...

Sure seems like it.. personally as an observer.. and Cs fan. PP is best in a 6th man role.. Simmons should be starting..

I'm sure mazz is likely going to tweak the lineup. I'd also entertain boucher in the starting lineup for he tenacity on defense and rebounding abilities. But whenever your best player is sidelined and you move two future HOF players this is what it looks like.

The Celtics will play with the lineup. I dont think it will make a lot of difference. Losing Holiday, Porzingis, and Tatum is the story.

Agreed. Lots of talent left the building. I do like some of the young guys we have.. but nonetheless this is what it will look like missing your best player and 2 other essential players.

Lots of talent left the building and they did nothing to bring in a big. This alone seems to show their intention to coast this year. Too bad that they're wasting one of Brown's prime years. If they really want to tank this year, just sit Brown with his hammy injury for a bunch of games.

I think the C’s can still be reasonably good. They fought in both games against good teams.

Feels similar to the Patriots' post-Brady 2020 covid season.
Low stress reset year

Bingo. They aren't stupid. Only way to continue this team is low cost elite lottery guys to pair with Tatum and Brown.

WTF is going on with PP? 4/22 (18%) from beyond the arc & 16/40 (40%) overall in their first 3 losses is not what I expected from him when he finally got to start. That said, Derrick White is also clanging quite a few 3's. He's only shooting 10/35 (28.5%) from 3 point land.

Overall, the team is shooting 31% from beyond the arc. For a team that has lived and died shooting the 3, they seem to be dying more so far this year.

I have been against trading Sam Hauser because I felt that this team needed his points. 10.75 pts/game for the first 4 games is not what I had in mind. It's beginning to look like Mazzulla's game planning does not work for Hauser's game. There doesn't appear to be a lot of cutters to the hoop - Brown's tight hammy might be limiting him in that regard - so the kick-out three isn't there. Most of their threes seem to be simple shots taken from the top of the key. That isn't really Hauser's game. In fact, it looks like he's still running to the corners when most of the team's offense is running a play.

They need to either figure out a way to get him some looks or just dump his $11.25 Million salary.

I still wish they could've kept Kornet. Queta looks good at times but he isn't out there enough, averaging under 24 mins/game. When the Pelicans went double-big in the 2nd quarter, they cut into the big lead. That's probably going to happen more & more this year with the C's small(er) lineup.

Sometimes I wonder if someone from the Celtics isn't reading this thread. Last night, they started the game by driving to the hoop and kicking it out to Hauser. He ended up 7/13, all 3's. 21 pts in 21 minutes.

And am I the only one who thinks it's painful to watch Luka Garza try to get back on defense? He runs like his jockstrap is too tight.

Hard to watch Luka? More generally I think it is hard to watch the Celtics.

I'm embracing this season. They should finish with 45-48 wins. Play hard in the process and improve as the season goes on.

The worse they finish the better the draft pick is. They better they finish the more fun the season will be.

Jeckyl & Hyde season continues. Get killed at home the season opener against Philly and then go down there and beat a 4-0 team.

But these refs... absolutely no consistency. Zero. They call touch fouls on one play and then allow someone to get hacked without a whistle. One of the worst calls was when they gave Edgecombe, a rookie, the call when Hauser was clearly standing still with his arms straight up with no movement at all and they called him for blocking. Ridiculous. And the announcers? Clueless about it. In fact, they watched the replay in slo mo and acted like Hauser was in the wrong,

Then in the 3rd, the refs lost the game. They allowed Brown to get hacked (as usual) and then called Brown on the other end for less contact. Brown got a T complaining about that ****ty call. Then they call Queta for breathing heavy on Embiid a few minutes later. When Embiid kicked Gonzalez in the balls with no call, you knew something was going on here. That should have been called.

The refs in the NBA should think about how this looks with all of the gambling accusations going on right now. Their one--sided calls allowed the Sixers to close the gap. It was not a good look at all.
