Vrabel's not going to allow guys to feel badly and get down, and forget about the goal at hand. It's definitely an emotional blow whenever guys go down.. but we are no different than most NFL teams. We have a week 14 bye and it is well deserved. The OL will be schemed up.. vederian lowe is going to have to have to man up and protect Drake.
Oh, the bye comes at a convenient time, as does the Gintz game ahead of it. I agree they're tough under Vrabel, and this week -- I hope -- they can make it happen without undue risktaking.

I'm more thinking of the post-bye time, where we might be knocked down from megalith back to decent and scrappy. That's where the will to win can end up costing if Drake reverts to trying to do too much.

Time to get some idea how the backups are - that's football! I liked the "fortunately injury-free" version better, of course

Well, in trying to be optimistic.......

Way back at beginning of season, I mentioned in some thread we shouldnt' have quite as much hope for going into at all or deep in playoffs because these Rookies on the OL would hit the rookie wall around game 14.

Well, now they are getting 4-6 weeks of rest to get thru the Rookie wall.
Silver lining spotted ...

Yesterday on the infamous GDT that the was no pressure on flacco, i just read that Kuor only blitzed flacco on the last drive. I don't understand why he waited that long, he wasn't getting any pressure on flacco through out the game with four rushers and flacco was moving the ball well.

... oh.. I like your optimism. Well it was a matter of time before injuries would happen as it's all part of the game as we all know.

The Giants are a scrappy team that can score and put pressure on a defense even without Nabors. I'm sure gonzo wants some get back for that TD he fell asleep on.. you said it... post bye is what matters most. It's so impressive what the teams been able to do with a new coaching staff, 2nd year QB, rookies at the left side of the OL.. a evolving roster.

Most of us were just hoping for competitive, watchable football.. what we got instead is the top team in the AFCCG on a collision course to meet the rams in the Superbowl.

It's like a rollercoaster than isn't well built, so you might get a bruised hip or some whiplash, but it's a hell of a time that you talk to your friends about after you get off. GDT's are one of the few places where people aren't concerned with having the perfect take lol, it's kinda refreshing.
I love people watching in the GDT. It’s where posters reveal the true essence of their fandom and their inner selves. All unvarnished hot takes. I love it!

Thats why he plays defense. lol
If Marcus Jones had reached out with one hand instead of two on the penultimate 4th down of Bengals last drive, probably would have batted the ball easily (more reach with one hand) and game is over. But on the next 4th down he learned - knocked it down with one hand and saved the game.

Marcus is a Gamer he almost had another pick.

Hey, calling me "usually reasonable" is fighting words!

It probably is because I'm so used to QBs not throwing balls in Gonzo's direction that when they start going that way, I think something must be off.
All Pro CBs that are elected into the Hall of Fame give up some receptions and a TD here and there. It happens. Gonzo is still great. Notice at the end of the game Flacco avoided Gonzo, that was not a coincidence.

After a day to think it over what I really liked about this game is something I alluded to in the Game thread when we got down 10-0. The boys showed us how they respond to adversity. They were down 10 on the road to an experienced QB who also had the ball to start the second half and they came right back and took the lead, never to relinquish it.

That's what Championship teams do, most of us have seen enough of them to know. Maye showed he can win without his A game, that's also something Thomas the Goat, Hallowed be his name did on the rare occasion he didn't have his.

I’m over the moon about Campbell. Just a couple of observations:

Rhamondre needs to get ready to learn bench. He’s a liability in game-winning situations and may soon be a non-factor in the offense altogether

Carlton Davis is simultaneously useless and valuable

Vrabel gambling on 4th works but sometimes does it at the wrong times

They did. He sucks. He isn’t an NFL RB. D’Ernest Johnson is better.

Bengals, like the Jets last week, found success running wide. Need a better job with outside contain.
