Ja'Marr Chase Suspended 1 Game; APPEAL DENIED

I thought he was making well over 30 Mill per year?

Usually early years of a deal, the player is getting more in signing bonus and less in base salary and roster bonus.

Why would them reducing it to a fine be so crazy. Look at the history of the league. They have swept violent crimes under the rug for star players (see Ray Rice).

It is probably less likely now. But if the Bengals were good and fighting for a playoff spot, the division, or the #1 seed, I wouldn’t have been surprised they would have done anything to justify this as a fine worthy offense and not a suspension.
I still think he will be suspended but I was listening to Mike Florio this morning, he said Chase has to admit to it and his representation will state officially no one has ever been suspended for spitting, the Cowboys player in week one was kicked out of the game, since he hadn’t played a snap the league called it a suspension. It’s really the only defense they have. Now will the panel of three former players buy it.

My understanding his official stance is that he did spit, but it wasn't intended on actually spitting on Ramsey and if he intended he would have spit on his face. If the Bengals were 7-3 right now with Burrow at QB, I think would be a compelling argument to the league.

This is the kind of conversation we need more of in sports. "Where did he intend for the spit to go?"

Right - and furthermore, Chase wants to play in the featured Thanksgiving Game against the Ravens and so does Goodell.

If they really wanted to send a message they'd suspend him for that game too

They don't really want to send a message. They want to look like they do while also not messing with the golden goose.

Do your job Jordy

Do you post anything that doesn't require wearing a tin foil hat? I don't care about Ray Rice. I love in 2025 and am refering to this season. Use some common sense.

Jalen Cater was ejected close to the beginning of the Eagles/Cowboys game for spitting. Discussions between the NFL, the NFL Players Association, and Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, resulted in accepting the ejection as the suspension since it was early in the game. From that time forward, the NFL and NFLPA decided to enact a new penalty for spitting - an automatic one game suspension. They are not going back. In so doing they would be violating the agreement struck between the league and NFLPA. After the Carter incident, spitting will no longer be a fine regardless of playoff contention. Suspension is now the accepted penalty. If that penalty if reduced to a fine, the work between the NFL, NFLPA, and Rosenhaus is worthless and Carter will file a grievance. Chase will not play on Sunday. That is just reality no matter what you want to invent.

Stop it.

The 'fine' that goes handing hand with a one game suspension is dictated solely by the amount of his 'game check'

It is his defense. Not what I believe.

But I do believe the league would buy Chase's defense if they were currently a top team in the race for a division spot or the #1 overall spot. I mean for a star player on a contender, it is a really compelling argument. In fact, since the Steelers aren't really strong contenders and Ramsey is no longer an elite CB, the league might have suspended Ramsey for getting in the way of normal discharge by Chase.

Nobody did it better than Bill Romanowski. Has got to be one of the dirtest players of all time.

That's a childish move and very unsportsman-like. He should be banished from the league. Send a real message.

hahahaha such nonsense

he was trying to be low key, didn't want to tip his head back (he wears a half shield) so he got him just below the collar.......would have to tip his head back to spit in his face, would have been obvious

he'd be better off going in there "heat of the moment" yada yada yada and hope for a fine

I am using hyperbole to make a point. But the point is that if this was an important game for the Bengals and the playoffs, I would almost guarantee you that the league would have found a way to avoid suspending Chase.

probably......i didn't read the rest of the thread, i thought this was legit going to be his line of defense

Sorry that part is true. At least from what I have seen. I thought you were talking about me saying the league would have bent over backwards to not suspend him if the Bengals were in the playoff hunt.

I think you have been hanging out with your profile pic too long, Felger.
