Yay for #integrity

I think I saw a dozen commercials tonight for online gambling, many of which involved prop bets. That’s what the “pick 6” wagers are.

Sounds like a reasonable measure to me.
-Actually kind of shocked the the NYJFL would do anything 'reasonable' or common-sense.

Not a big gambling fan anyway.

Agree.

But what I find funny are the only two yahoos talking about this last night.

Oh yeah: nothing screams integrity like someone doing .....
"
Overview/Objective
This role will be responsible for continuing global gaming growth ....

[ PS: at $175,000 per year. ]

Not that I'd expect anything less from short-sighted billionaires, but.... dudes. You guys opened yourselves up for this by partnering with those gambling sites.

I know, it's unfathomable that a bunch of rich idiots would favor short-term growth over long-term sustainable growth. /the deadpannest of sarcasm

This would be a triumph of integrity over greed. As such I doubt it will happen

Or it will be disguised as a prop betting prohibition, but have enough exceptions to swallow the rule.

$175k a year in NYC for a Director position?

Yeah, they WANT that guy/girl to be susceptible to bribes.

Had a similar thought. Pay is way low given the importance of gambling income to the NFL

I’d also say, I don’t think the NFL gives a flying **** about the integrity of the game. I think they care about the perceived integrity of the gambling. Folks think the games are rigged = less folks waging money

And probably less than that...

"This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range."

I hadn’t watched the TNF pregame show before, didn’t realize it was actually an infomercial for prop betting on DraftKings.

The profusion of prop bets is flat-out dangerous for both bettors and sports. I’d really like to see the NFL do this, but I’m not holding my breath.

My view is there should be no promotion allowed for betting. TSN is the Canadian version of ESPN and shows Thursday, Sunday, and Monday night NFL games. Before every game the analysts make their recommendations for prop bets and then do so again at halftime

Obviously the online gambling companies are paying TSN, but it shouldn’t be allowed. I want game analysis, I don’t need a bookie. If you want to bet go ahead, but go look for it yourself.

I think any kind of prop can be rigged not just the ones the league is talking about.

Bet the under on pass receiptions? No problem. Hey I dropped a couple. Whoopsie...

Soon we'll see the DraftKings Super Bowl.

There are plenty of alternative streaming sites who would offer you the analysis you want. End of the day, YOU are the person asking for content that is less profitable, not the people who want gambling content. There's more money in that for the network. You feel entitled to them showing you what you want because it's the "traditional" way of covering sports but that's not how it works. If you're interested in content that is less profitable the burden is on you to go find it because the networks are going to spoon feed the people what makes the most profits.
