That was a great game. I was worried going into it and the D, as usual, gave up 7 on the first drive. I hope this keeps working for them.

Henderson 2nd TD run, with him asking permission first, was awesome and a bit funny with Maye yelling at him to go down. Should he have gone down? Maybe... but I was OK either way.

Let's go drub the Jets Thursday.

I also learned something in this game. I guess it's legal to launch yourself into the ball carrier's helmet with your own helmet as long as he's in bounds when you do it. After all, Gene Steratore said it's true. I think it's a special rule too. It's only legal if the ball carrier is named Drake Maye.

I don't understand why Hollins' catch was marked two yards back from where he caught it and really don't understand why Vrabel didn't challenge it. That was clearly caught beyond the first down line. Why Romo was going on and on about where his knee went down was a head-scratcher. Has he never heard of forward progress?
I was in my recliner screaming at Vrabel to throw the challenge flag on that play. I also thought he made it easily. Too bad Vrabel couldn't hear me.

There was another helmet to helmet hit on Maye beside the one on the sideline. He was hit on the chin right after letting go of a pass. I'm not sure exactly which play it was but I think it was a big completion.

Normally I keep the volume down so I don't have to listen to the ramblings of Romo and Nance (he should have retired years ago) but I decided to listen a little. They were busy talking about something else while some great plays were happening. Same old same old.

There could now be a whole new aspect of planning how to stop the Pats, because what worked before won’t work now.
You can see it in the middle of the field. The mid and check down routes don't have two additional players (the safeties) in the mix anymore like the last two years and early this season (first 3 games). Those little 5 yard in and out routes are there almost every snap now.

He wasn't touched and kind of took himself backwards. So he wasn't knocked back. Kind of what happens when you're stopped on a room but you're knocked back and then detach from the defender. If you're not touched, you dont get forward progress.
Thanks. I was fooled by that also.

Check out the blocking.

I was talking about Grogan's leadership and toughness. Fraudgers was sidelined an entire season by an Achilles injury. Grogan once tore clean through his Achilles, he took a time out to tie the pieces together right there on the field and didn't miss a down
It bothers me that Cant Newton came here for one lousy season and tied Grogan's Pats record for running TDs by a QB.

Thank God that BB wouldnt allow Cam to break the record which he could have done very easily.

Yes, I am grateful for that much.

It turns out my understanding of forward progress when it comes to a caught ball was wrong. Unless a defender is touching him, forward progress isn't established.
Look at it this way: forward progress can be in any direction. It’s the progress the ball carrier makes in whatever direction he’s running before contact is made with a defender.

Consider this scenario. Punt returner catches the ball at the 25 halfway between the hash mark and the near sideline. They choose to run backwards to avoid being tackled by the gunner while also running laterally across the field trying to find a running lane outside the far hash mark. But the gunner is fast and takes a good angle to tackle them between the hash marks at the 15 yard line. The runner voluntarily gave up those ten yards, he wasn’t thrown back by the defenders in the process of tackling, so the ball would be spotted at the 15 not the 25. Does that help?

Pop and Marcus should really be the only returners.. seems as if chism is playing on STs just to get him on the field.
Or to keep from overloading other players that have valuable roles. There’s only so much practice time and Pop and Marcus already have their other roles taking practice time away from practicing catching and returning kicks.

Moses pulled and blasted a hole on the 1st Hendo TD run and then sealed off 3 Bucs from getting to Hendo.

I suppose he parted the Tampa red sea.

The Bucs defensive formation was heavy on the left side. I wonder if Maye saw it and dialed up the call? After Hendo made it past the LOS there were about 3 guys to beat, but they were all spread out. Hendo burned past 2 Bucs like they were standing still with 1 Buc remaining who tripped Hendo up in the EZ.

As good as that one was, Tonga blocking 2 (at least two, looks like he caught a third as he hit the ground) and pancaking one guy on that 2nd run was really cool.

How about BB drafting Pop, Mapu, Barmore, M Jones. The Pats miss Boutte. Who ever thought that would be the case?

Probably safe to say he won't be playing Thursday.. I noticed when he went out seems as if we started getting relentless pressure?

Who knows how serious it is, but yeah i wouldn’t force anything Thursday if hes at all iffy. Same with rham and boutte.

Have to go back and watch the end, i do know we brought the house on the big 4th down

Agreed. We have a great STs unit.. we need to get more from our return game. This is where not having rham hurts because we have to lessen the burden on Henderson In the return game.
