JETS SUCK 2025 EDITION (OFFICIAL): DIVINE INTERVENTION DENIED

Since Woody Johnson bought the New York Jets in 2000, the team has compiled a 174-238 record. They haven't made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season, the longest postseason drought in all of professional sports.

Their last winning season was 2015 (10-6, missed the playoffs). Since then every season has been below .500.

Only three teams have had a playoff drought for more than 4 years. In the case of the Panthers and the Falcons, it has been 7 years, but the JETE have not been to the playoffs for 14 years.

Just End The Suffering!

List of Jete staring QBs since their last playoff appearance:

Jete fans should follow one of Rich Eisen's two suggestions, pick a new team!

"Classic" status confirmed now that it is available via giphy:

In fairness, the Jets DID finally win the Division under Woody's tenure.

Their 9-7 season in 2002 was their FOURTH Eastern division title in their history, moving them up from 5th place (The Pats have 22)

Today the Jets remain in last place in that category TIED with the friggen HOUSTON OILERS, who haven't existed as a team in nearly 40 years!

I would happily purchase for that young man a Jete jersey with “1st and 2nd round draft pick” over the ole 95

Just get him a jersey without numbers that has DRAFT PICK on front and back. Because that's all they'll be looking forward to for the next couple years.

I don't think this is news to players or fans, at least the ones with their eyes wide open. The minute they took in Justin Fields as QB1 then it was clear they were tanking. The man has athletic talent but simply can't read defenses. As someone said he has a million dollar body and a ten cent mind.

I wrote a few times in this thread now that the move would be to dump Gardner and Wilson in the off-season before re-signing them. IMO that would have let them a better choice of trade partners and without having paid them signing bonuses nor having bigger cap hits when they did move them.

The main downside to that was the marketing angle which you correctly point out. Their approach meant they were able to say we're still trying to be good all off-season by moving the fire sale till after they had eight games under their belt.

Clearly the fans who still ponied up for tickets because they thought Fields could be good were the typical Jete fans high on hopium.
I do have to say, though. One thing that sticks out about Fields so far is that he hasn't thrown a pick yet this year, and he's thrown only one in his last 19 games (15 starts and almost 400 attempts). That is pretty dang impressive.

Because the defenders tend to be near the receivers.

He leads the team in fumbles, however.

That's a fine stat for him to pitch as a future backup - in fact if he wants to take a huge pay cut next year the Jets could do worse for a backup - or as another tankable QB should they decide to stalk Arch Manning in 2026.

But I'd guess he's throwing a lot more short low risk passes - and throwing anything longer into the ground or stands, as he's got LESS THAN HALF the passing yards that Maye has

Field's average completion is also about 6 YPC right now - whereas Maye is literally 50% higher averaging 9 YPC, which is pumped up by some of those nice long completions of course - but that's where the risk of an INT rises, so that's a trade off we're happy to see when it's working

No doubt the Jets need one of the good new QBs but I don't necessarily look at the Jets and blame Fields for another bad season - it's everyone.
