JETS SUCK 2025 EDITION (OFFICIAL): DIVINE INTERVENTION DENIED

Not the first video I've seen of a JEST fan trolling his own kid. (At least Rich Eisen did not induce his kids into JEST fandom.)
I don't think I could in good conscience expose my kids to being a Jete fan. When the Sox lost in 2003, my 9 yr old daughter asked my why we didn't just switch and root for the Yankees. I legit didn't have a good answer for a solid minute, until I came up with they are the Evil Empire.

I don't think this is news to players or fans, at least the ones with their eyes wide open. The minute they took in Justin Fields as QB1 then it was clear they were tanking. The man has athletic talent but simply can't read defenses. As someone said he has a million dollar body and a ten cent mind.

I wrote a few times in this thread now that the move would be to dump Gardner and Wilson in the off-season before re-signing them. IMO that would have let them a better choice of trade partners and without having paid them signing bonuses nor having bigger cap hits when they did move them.

The main downside to that was the marketing angle which you correctly point out. Their approach meant they were able to say we're still trying to be good all off-season by moving the fire sale till after they had eight games under their belt.

Clearly the fans who still ponied up for tickets because they thought Fields could be good were the typical Jete fans high on hopium.
Agreed, although at $30 million a year for Fields I think they actually DID think he might be the answer at QB.

If they were truly tanking there'd be no need to make Gardner the highest paid CB in the league with a new four year guarantee.

I agree with you though - Gardner IMO was taking a step back and clearly hasn't been a difference maker for them. I wouldn't have re-signed him (and don't think we should overpay Gonzo for that matter). While I wouldn't have extended him for that price, the Jets probably got more for him now than they would have then,

That's a HUGE gamble for the Colts IMO as he's great in press one on one situations but not much else - and now if Jones flames out the way he did in NY, the Colts have no QB and no ability to draft one until 2028

So credit to the Jets for actually making a sane decision and tanking like no one has tanked before - but we all know they will crush the career of whatever QB they get.

Honestly any other team armed with these picks and the current team (the OL isn't awful) could probably orchestrtate a one or two year turnaround with the right QB. But these are the Jets and it's clear that Aaron Glenn is they guy they trust to tank.

BTW- How would you like to be a Jet player coming to practice today after your team announced to the world that they are TANKING and will not try to win any further games. How do you go and risk your body (which is your livelihood) for THAT organization.

For that matter, what about the ticket holders. Why would you EVER trek out to that stadium to watch THAT team. They should start to protest. How about this scenario. Pat's vs Jets at a quarter filled stadium of 25,000 fans, of which 85% of them are Pats fans. Not a great look for the NYJFL .

Watched espn's NFL Live yesterday. It was fun to watch them step on each other's toes trying to avoid using the word TANK while describing the Jets strategy in making these trades

Well yes - that IS what they expect as ticket prices have just gone up again!

I think you'll find even MORE Jets/Pats tickets on sale there as that's bound to be one they don't go to.

While on the one hand, Woody admitting that he doesn't see the Jets competing with the Bills and Pats until 2028 at the earliest is a sign of sanity - but we all know they will screw up whatever QB they pick (watch out Arch Manning!)

The NFL should be very sensitive to the notion that the OWNER is trying to fix the outcome of games amid these gambling scandals. The players themselves should be PISSED knowing that very few will be valued assets elsewhere. One does have to question why the Jets didn't get something for Jermaine Johnson and Breece Hall for that matter.

They won't be back - and the Jets are going to be snubbed in free agency ten times more than the Pats were this offseason.

Certainly think there is zero chance Breece Hall re-signs with them now.

Think he might like to join the Pats and stick it to the Rats?
Hall would be one of my main targets in next year's FA market. I would even do a 10% overpay to get him. I've stuck with Rham throughout his fumbling issues, but I think Hall is simply better and Rham's cap space would mitigate Hall's signing impact.

I think thing a RB room of Hall, Henderson, Gibson, and Draft pick or Jennings would be a strong one. to go into next season with

And four days ago. All of these more recent moves will probably result in ANOTHER ticket price increase.

No doubt Jets fans will continue to dream, but I think they're going to need to wait until the reincarnation of Broadway Joe before things turn around - so we're probably talking 20 plus years after he passes

Until then the Jets will continue to ruin QB careers. The most frightened guy in the world right now is probably Arch Manning who is either coming out in 2026 or 2027 - so if the Jets want to ruin him like everyone else he might not be able to avoid it.

Maybe he'll refuse to play for them and force a trade to the Chargers!

Manning on the Jets for the obvious family history would make for some compelling narratives. This feels like it would be good for the league.

Not sure what his play is gonna be. On one hand, he’s in a contract year. In the other, the team just sold out and forfeited the season. Saw some tweet saying he wanted to be traded yesterday.

Wonder if the rumors were true about the Chiefs offering a 4th? Not sure why they wouldn’t give a 3rd if true. That offense is in dire need of an effective RB and would of made them a dark horse. At any rate, I’ glad it didn’t happen.

Besides their own draft pick, I don’t think the Jeetes did anything special for the suckitude that is them..

Gave up a franchise CB that they got with the 4th pick of the draft. Lost their best defensive line player who was the 3rd pick. Sorry but the picks these tirds are getting from the Cowboys and Colts in return aren’t mathing out in value. Now you have to put your team scouting in the position to not only evaluate, but also play the crapshoot game while doing it almost 20 picks later to refill those two positions while also trying to land a QB. Doomed to fail which is no surprise out of this team.

Started watching the Sox in the early 70s myself, have some really huge disappointments due to The Big Red Machine, Bucky Dent, and Bill Buckner.

Yet I do not recall a 'we suck and we hate ourselves' energy.

I recall a 'why can't we get it done' energy.

Big difference between frustration and self-loathing, IMO.

Much more akin to the Bills fans rather than the Jete fans.

We knocked on the door in '67, '75 and '86 so it didn't feel impossible.

And John Henry is a useless twat these days who should sell the team.

I'll never forget the 7th Game of the 1967 World Series between the Red Sox and the Cardinals. Of all days, I was attending my best friend's wedding that day. As the wedding reception was being held, a few of us (including the band) had AM Radios and had the game on so we would know the score. When the final out of the 9th inning happened and we lost, we tried to make the best of it for the Bride and Groom's sake but it was hard as the "Impossible Dream" came to an end.

In 86, I attended game 5 at Fenway. Bruce Hurst pitched a great game and we won 4 to 2. I watched game 6 on TV at home and in the 10th inning with the game tied, Bill Buckner let a slow roller go right through his legs which allowed the Mets to score the winning run and tie the series. All we had to do was win 1 out of the last 2 games to win the WS but nope - we lost them both.

This doesn't match the futility of the Jets over the years but it was a glimpse of what it must be like to be a Jets fan.

And even though my early days as a Patriot Fan had some dark days, TG I'm not a Jets fan. . .

Left behind after the rapture?

This is da Jete we're talking about: they decided to not just tank, but to do so as inefficiently as possible!

Indeed. We had our Mo Sanu moment, but at least we didn't give up two firsts for him!

Exactly.

Aaron Glenn sucks, which makes him the perfect Jete coach!

I'm not sure which game this references but it really doesn't seem to matter ...

What family connection is there between the Mannings and the Jets?

It would have to be a very strong connection to make someone want to play for them, as it's been a career killer for pretty much every QB who has ever played there.

I was getting at Eli's time in New York obviously on the other New York team but still I imagine even on the Jets both NY bases would find it compelling.

And both NY teams, Eli, and Peyton all share a history with us that would also be compelling if Arch joined the fray provided he's good enough for it.
