NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

I think they've been quite clear. They didn't want half season rentals or ageing players. I like that approach.

100%.

The FO/Vrabel have been clear that they are open to making the team better, but only in the context of the bigger picture. No short term rentals, no minimal upgrades, no funny farm prices.

Personally, I like their discipline and trust their judgment.

Ridiculous take. We have the best record in the NFL and have won 6 in a row. A more likely take is they didn’t think any available players would be much of an upgrade.

Obviously, if a player had (1) been available, (2) at an acceptable cost, that (3) would have improved the roster for both the short and long term, then (4) the Pats would have made a deal.

Equally obviously, (4) didn't happen, so those first 3 things didn't all happen either.

Not rocket science.

Agree completely. This front office with Vrabel leading it have their **** together. They are completely clearheaded about what they want to build, and how they are going to go about building it. Their discipline through the trade deadline demonstrates that they aren't going to panic or get caught up trying to get to the promised land early. They are going to stick to the plan and build a long return contender. I couldn't be happier about where they are and where they are headed.

In 2027 they’ll package all 3 first rounders to move up to get the 1st overall pick to draft a QB, only for that QB to then refuse to play in New Jersey.
No way, Woody wants to win now, he’ll spend all of those picks this offseason when the Cardinals make Kyler Murray available.

2026 draft too.

Should be QB rich.
Not according to Daniel Jeremiah who thinks none of the QBs are better than Cam Ward. I like Ty Simpson, Dante Moore and Mendoza but I'm not convinced they're no 1 material in most years. And Simpson and Moore might not even declare. After those three, it's not a good group at all.

Yeah although with his $120 million contract extension (which is what Gonzo will want) that's still a shocking move - almost admitting that with the ascension of the Pats and the need to draft a rookie QB next year, they have no shot of contending for the next 4 years and Gardner knows it - the team knows it

So they got two first round draft picks from the Colts - who don't look ready to sniff the Top 10 of the draft board for the next few seasons either
I don’t think the Patriots have much to do with it. They know they have no quarterback.

LOL. That would be incredible and so Jetsy. Trade away multiple blue chip players for first round picks, then send those first round picks to Arizona for a middling at best QB who will be hurt most of the time.

If I was Arizona I would definitely be selling that contract, they’re lucky they’ll have buyers. If they could swindle the Jete out of multiple firsts for him it would be a coup.

I read an article earlier that suggested the Jets are tanking for…wait for it…Carson Beck. Please God make this true.

As a GA fan I would LOVE the Jets to spend a high 1st on him.

This is going to be a weak QB class, and RB and OL as well, but it's a really good year for defense, DT, Edge, and CB are all going to be strong. WR isn't loaded at the top, but there should be plenty of good receivers.

Does anyone think Terrell Jennings performance on Sunday made the staff change their mind on adding an extra RB?

I got the impression they were looking for a depth type of guy anyways. Maybe he impressed enough to hold back.

So pretty amazing to think that as bad as the Jets are, they just got even worse... much worse.

Yes they'll take a QB in this next draft - but they know they're not contenders for the next 4 years and are behaving accordingly
