NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

As a GA fan, TRUST me you want no part of Pickens in your building. Dude is a ****ing problem child.

Yep, I want nothing to do with him, he's the opposite of the players Vrabel is looking to build with. And the idea some have that he will magically turn into a different person with Vrabel coaching him is pure fantasy island stuff.

I'm surprised there isn't more talk about Jerome Ford. Judkins has taken his job and he's a FA next year, with all the help Cleveland needs you would think he's on the market.

At first I was kinda 'what the' looking at the asking price on them but then I realized teams gotta compete with their possible comp formula returns when it comes to Breece Hall & Jaelin Phillips

While comp picks are a consideration, remember they'd be for 2027, not 2026, and they're based on the new contract the player signs, not the old one. Plus if it's an expiring contract like Phillips' they may be saving a half-season of salary in a trade.

Absolutely, just like Kayshon Boutte was drafted in the 6th for a reason. What does that matter now?
Great question...

Career snaps: Keyshon Boutte - 1243
Career snaps: Marcus Bryant - 12 (twelve)
Everyone watching camp and preseason knew that Bryant was a lock for the roster based on his performance. Maybe he’ll never be more than a reasonable backup, but he does seem to be that.
Keyshon was projected to be a high draft pick at one time "for a reason". Bryant was never projected to be a high draft pick "for a reason". I truly hope Bryant becomes a great starter...I was really encouraged by the coaches praise before the season.

pre draft position is not the be all end all.
Nacua got drafted pretty much where expected, so obv teams weren't super high on him and he's turned into one of the best WRs in the league in short order.
That's not to say Bryant's career won't be a true reflection of where he was drafted, but there are several "reasons" for where guys get drafted, and they are wrong quite often, both good and bad.

And they’re negated by signing other free agents so aren’t a guarantee.

So I am just trying to keep rumors straight. I have seen rumors on twitter for the following
WR-AJ Brown, Jordan Addison
RB- Chubba Hubbard
Edge- Jaelon Phillips
Saf- Amani Hooker

Have I missed any that?

In fairness I recall the DL or LB coach praising Ponder as “special “.

He's a very good player when he's healthy.
He's due a contract, so only way I see giving up a 3rd is if you plan to resign him and cut bait with Dre in the off-season.
He's averaged over 90 yards from scrimmage per game in his career on some horrible teams.

Wouldn’t they get a 3rd as a comp pick if he leaves in FA?

Teams need to have a "net loss" of FAs to get compensatory picks.
I don't know who the Jets will sign vs who they will lose, so getting a 3rd rd compensatory pick for Hall is far from guaranteed.

First off, it would be a pick in 2027, not 2026, and that only if they have a net loss of qualifying FAs.

More importantly, it would be extremely unlikely to be a 3rd; to get that, his new deal would have to be in the top 5% of all contracts by average annual value. The Raiders are on pace to get a 5th for Robert Spillane, at $12.5M.

Rham would have a higher dead cap if cut than if on the roster in 2026 but cutting him after 2026 is palatable. I think I'd trade a 3rd for Hall, sign him long term, and cut Rham after 2026 assuming a trade is not possible. You'd need to float a year with Rham being a 7.6 million cap hit but with Drake on a rookie deal you could do it, also structuring Hall to be less cap in 2026.

I think he'd be a significant upgrade so would be worth it to me. Not sure how realistic it would be for Jets to send him in the division. Or for Pats to be willing to give up a 3rd.

I didn't look into Dre's contract, so what you detail makes sense.
And I do agree, he is a significant upgrade.
I had him on my FF team when he was a rook, and I remember watching a couple of games and thinking to myself this guy could be a top 3-5 dual threat RB in the NFL soon.......then he got hurt.

Don't think the Jets will get the 3rd for Hall.

He would be a nice addition as a receiving multi-purpose RB though.

Maybe for a 5th?
Yeah, that’d be ideal. Acquire Hall, extend him…trade/release Stevenson in the offseason & have Hall, Henderson & whoever else in the backfield for at least the next few years. That’s about as dynamic as you can get at the RB position, unless of course you have someone like Bijan, Saquon or Jahmyr.
