NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

On Philadelphia radio this morning, the sports host were babbling nonstop about supposedly hot and heavy rumors that the eagles are trying to acquire Miles Garret for three first round draft picks. I think the Browns would have to be stupid to accept this because all three of those pics will probably be between 25 and 32.

They’d be stupid not to accept that offer. They aren’t winning **** with or without Garrett.

Budda Baker will be 30 this season. Very good player but prefer someone younger who will be around a while.
Getting younger and faster players that have good play strength all game is the way to go. Love the job Vrabel is doing.

Wish I'd thought of that.
You always have good material! I really like the idea should it happen.. we definitely need pass rush help.. we have an excellent front.. but having a guy like KY who's proven and young.. can be here for the present and the future..

$15.6m next year, about $8 million left this year. I think I’ll pass too.
Don't laugh me off the the forum.. but I really think although Vrabel knows he needs more at Safety..Hawkins hasn't been terrible.. not saying he's the long term answer but we could get by at least this season with Hawkins, Woodson and Saunders...

Budda Baker is good, but hasn’t produced **** since 2022; besides tackling. So we’re really just splitting hairs here…Both would upgrade our safety spot, but at what cost? Baker will be 30 in January..Fitz is 28. Compensation is the obvious issue. Anybody got the scoop on the recent play of Justin Reid or Jevon Holland? Both solid players on terrible teams & could use a change of scenery with a winning culture.

Holland is guy to target in FA.. as you mentioned with age.. Hawkins is 28.. so probably better off going the course with Hawkins, Woodson and Saunders for now.. the need is edge rusher.. if something ever materialized for KT.. from the Giants at edge that helps the secondary immensely. We can all agree either way..that safety will certainly be addressed in FA/draft

Not that this matters since I don't think the Eagles will trade him at least not until the offseason:

Phillips is 16th/121 in pass rush productivity among EDGEs & has 19 pressures & 3 sacks in his last 5 games. He should be their top target.
Position: LB 6-5, 263lb. Might be more of a DE with the Patriots I would guess?

AJ was also a big Pats fan growing up. He wanted to be drafted by NE to play with Brady

Agreed. He’s who I’d like them to acquire for the right price. If we happen to acquire him, hopefully he can stay healthy. Seems like the kid gets a ton of pressure, but never finishes. Sacks can be overrated. Pressure is the key.

Add

CB Rasul Douglas
LB Jordyn Brooks
DT Zach Sieler

He's a freak. 6'5 260 lb. OLBs that run in the 4.5s don't come around often. BB was a fan & he probably would've been the pick if we didn't pick Mac:

Belichick spoke about Miami’s first-round rookie, Phillips. Belichick said, “This a player that started at UCLA, then sat out a couple years, transferred to Miami. Very athletic, fast, explosive. You know, probably one of the best test athletes, honestly, that I’ve ever evaluated. His numbers and his size, and his athletic skills go up there against anybody in any era. So, big, explosive player on the edge that they added.”

He could be in a 3 man rotation with Landry & Chaisson making them more efficient (ex. 2024 eagles). While he'd be expensive to re-sign I think he's worth it as a rental & there's still a chance he'd be here longterm.
