While I agree to an extent : let’s rebuild via the draft, as well as free agency….. if there is a useful vet who becomes available to NE for peanuts (salary dump / last year of the contract), why not ?

While I don’t think NE is championship caliber - the league is down, they are 6-2, and the QB has been fire.
Just out of curiosity, what makes you think they are not Championship caliber this year?

Not saying they ARE championship quality, but there are clear parallels to the 2001 Pats who were also not championship quality, until they were.

We should stand pat unless something too good to turn down comes our way. We have a lot of drafting to do the next 1-3 seasons. We’re a vet heavy team.
I'd go one of these two ways -

A) Swing for the fences on a superstar so good that it can make you a Super Bowl contender both now and also for the next several years
B) Short of that, just target solid players at positions of need that could be had for low cost and aren't too old. Guys mentioned like Wright, Hubbard etc would be perfect.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the fact that we're sitting here at NFL trade deadline week and we're NOT discussing WR as a "position of need". Incredible. Thank you Vrabel, thank you McDaniels, thank you Dirty Diggs, thank you Big Drake.

No, he's a bum.
Jeudy was really good with Jameis Winston last year in Cleveland: to say he's played with good QB's is almost criminal. Would hate to imagine how he would perform with Maye.

Absolutely not. We don't need more WR's. But we should have been on George Pickens in the off-season.
Don't get me started on that. We should have Drafted him the First place: but thought T Thornton was better.

I've never been impressed with him, ever.
Is he better than Diggs...no.
Is he better than Boutte...no.
Pop is rounding into form and they are using him on some deeper routes.
Hollins has a role and does his job extremely well.
Williams is young, needs some playing time.
I am firmly against Jeudy, very firmly.

Pickens is very talented, put he's a loose cannon.
Would anyone be surprised if he has an AB like meltdown in the next few years? I wouldn't.

Don't shoot the messenger... they're having a fire sale.

You guys hate Diva WR's: I'm the opposite I love em.

Lot cheaper then Jeudy, younger, more talent...

Yep, and this team is improving dramatically as players adjust to the new schemes. Nothing's likely, but anything's possible.

It's not the diva part that worries me, lots of WR divas over the years.
Pickens just seems different, in a bad way.
I hope I'm wrong and he matures, but every time I watch him he does great things, and some really dumb ones.
He just looks ready to implode a lot.

Agree...as did Randy Moss. They can't all be choir boys. I can't imagine Vrabel letting Pickens be a problem in the locker room....would never happen.

I'm curious what farn thinks is keeping them from being championship quality this year. I think they are close, close enough to make a bigger move if the opportunity presents itself.
I'm not saying mortgage the future, but we are good enough today to consider everything.

I don't think Vrabel would ever bring a guy like him into the building.
Now if he was here, I agree that Vrabs would have a chance to keep him in line, but I don't think he would ever bring a player like that here. That would go against everything he says they are building.

I think it was important to get high quality guys early on that have bought in...he has done that. Imagine if Pickens was signed during the 1st dynasty...do you think Wille, Vrabel, Bruschi, Harrison, etc would let Pickens be a malcontent?

Mike Vrabel: "Someone asked me, are you worried about what went wrong last year? Why the f**** would I care about what happened last year? ”
