Love it.

EDIT: Looks like a 3 year deal.

He has proven this season that he is a top 3 player on our defense IMO. Gonzo, Williams…who else above Jones? Great move to lock him up.

Boutte and Gonzalez can’t sign extensions until after the last regular season game has been played this season, per the CBA, since they’re 3rd year drafted players.
Phew! thought you said "won't" had a mild heart attack there for sec.

12 million per year is a great signing b. I was expecting around 13-14 . Not bad .

What’s really sad is when Foxx had his fatal heart attack on set, he was so good at acting out the fake ones that his coworkers on the set didn’t realize it was the real thing immediately. Hope it didn’t make a difference.

Great new key Player in the cog: real exciting game changing player.

12Mill for Boutte heck no try 18Mill and up. Young up and coming Receiver ain't taking peanuts in this day and age: he has plenty of upside.
Yeah it's a pipe dream. $18M would be solid.

I know I heard about it really sad. Those people who experienced it must feel terrible about it.

I heard someone on a podcast say Boutte rarely comes off the Field. So he has that going for him: Boutte is very deceptive X-WR who should really be a "Z".

If Boutte continues on this pace (915yds / 10 td) thats definitely north of 20m per in today’s market imo

Exactly: and if he produces more his Agent might tell Him to hold off and up the ante.

He would have been a FA next year. Assumption is they paid less as there isn't any competition for his services in an open market scenario.
True, but if he thought he had a good chance of getting significantly more as a FA, why would he take this deal instead?

Hopefully we can lock him up sooner than later once eligible for an extension . Its going to be pricey but you don’t want to let Drake’s favorite target leave

Get the money now in case he gets hurt before the end of the season. For a guy with an injury history that may be a consideration. That’s what happened with Dion Lewis in 2015 - signed a cheap extension, a week later he tore his ACL.

The same reason any player takes any deal before they hit FA. They get their money & contract now versus risking an injury or some other factor affecting their contract. It's safer to take a slightly lower number and sign earlier.

This is fantastic news.
I see the clamouring for him to be used on Offense has disappeared.
Was a bad idea from the get go.

Yeah you're right. Look at what Jameson Williams got in Detroit.

I'd pass on that.

I think when you have an elite QB, he can make above average receivers into solid #2/3/4's.

I want to keep the concept of one elite WR, one vet who is a #4, and two young players on rookie contracts as #2/3.

Look at the Chiefs. An elite QB can get away a lot. Build the line and the defense.

Detroit needs better receivers because it's Goff.

Mike vrabel and McDaniels is making wolf look like a genius

I like your template.

The only caveat I see is Boutte is a very young free agent, he's only 23. If you could get him at what the NBA would consider a 'mid-level exemption' level, $12-14 millionish? That would be just as worth it to me.
