I could see losing both and candidly not even be bothered.
With the Bucs losing Evans for the year, Godwin not being healthy, Irving continuing to be out and Egbuka playing with a gimpy Hamstring, they aren't as tough as they might have been.. They still have good players in Rashaad White, Cade Otten and Sterling Shepard, and the Defense is pretty good, but it's not a surefire loss the way some were predicting to begin the season.

I mean, Cleveland ran every trick play/kitchen sink play they had in the playbook at them in the first half.

This defense might just actually be good.
Someone was describing this as the new bend but don’t break.

This is just who our defense is, I guess. We suck for the first couple of drives and then we lock down. And we don’t let runners run. That might just be good enough.
The first 15 plays are on the coaching. Coaches should know what expect from these pre-scripted plays.

I’m not penciling in a loss for any game left on our schedule. I don’t think we’ll win them all but I’m not as nervous as I was going into the season.

The theory I've heard is that they deliberately play vanillia defense for the first 15 plays, see what the other team wants to do and then adjust accordingly. Disconcerting sometimes but it seems to be workiing more often than not.

It makes sense for a second but then I don't see how it is better than going into a game with non-vanilla, potentially stopping the first score, and adjusting from there. Am I missing something?

They should, but we have an interim DC. I don’t really think that accounts for it, but maybe Kuhr is still learning.

I think they're both very winnable games provided we avoid injuries in each one.

They also didn't have Barmore out there because he did something to get Vrabel to discipline him.

Re: the slow start, they really could have should have gotten a three and out. A blown coverage and some trickery and the “slow start” description lives on, and for good reason.

Maye is the glow to this team. He’s been pretty incredible. Especially for not throwing for a 300 yard game yet and still looks like the real deal out there. What he’s doing is tough to comprehend in just his 2nd year. Amazing, and every other positive adjective in the dictionary.

Boutte has emerged as that guy. Getting consistent and looking like a steal. LSU 313 yard game still sticks in my head about him and always had that what if he returns to be something resembling that guy?

Diggs gets his first TD as a Patriot. Got to think all the receivers have learned hownto do it better by just being around him. He is nothing like I thought he was character wise. He’s an excellent teammate and leader.

Hollins is a swiss army knife. I can see why all the coaches love him.

Splillane for me was a severally overlooked free agent pick up. Thought he was ok but didn’t realize he was gonna be such a force in the defense all year.

It’s not every Sunday that Christian Gonzales gets to make the huge impact because teams are afraid to throw his way(which is an impact btw) but he definitely had some opportunities to show off some of his other skills besides his coverage game today.

Hawkins seems like the guy that everyone loves to cheer against but proves the doubters wrong more often than not.

I don’t care if he’s Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor or Miles Garrett. Your Left tackle should not have a day like that. He’s young, he’s destined to be a cornerstone and he needs to shake it off and move on. They won easily but he just gave up 4 or 5 sacks in one game and leads the team in pressures allowed. It was a trial by fire matchup and you got to think he learned a-thing or two by the experience today. Certainly had his lunch served to him today by one of the soon to be all time greats. I don’t he’ll ever forget this one. But again, learn from it and for goodness sake, don’t let it happen again.

I think NE moved up the ladder again in run defense. Were at 5, expecting them to be top 2 ranking after today. What great coaches, a draft a few key additions will do for a franchise.

To win MVP Maye needs to break the passer rating and completion record. The Mahomes push is just too strong otherwise.
Yes we know the league wants Kermit Mahomes to win MVP. The refs have already been given their marching orders and we’ve seen it already.

The first step for a guy like Maye to steal it is for the national media around the league to take notice what Maye is doing and that has already happened. I’m just glad we found our guy.

I mean, they had 200 total yards...that's a little better than bend/don't break.
D was great today besides that first drive, which is a really bad habit of ours.
That said, we were playing Gabriel and WRs no one knows besides Jeudy (who's an overrated bum). I was very impressed how we completely shutdown the run tho.
You can only play who you play, and we took care of business, but our D will face much, much stiffer tests.

Not to bring anything negative in here, but was watching as Maye was running into the tunnel after the game. He saw a little girl at the wall, was handing her a wrist band/towel and some old lady swiped it away. Not gonna lie, as much of a sports fan as I am, I could never see myself swiping something from a child. Wish I could post the video.

Anyway, enough with that, what a great time to be a Pats fan. A lot to look forward too, yet still a lot to improve on. Good times.

Hopefully it get's back to may and he makes sure the girl get's his Jersey instead and the woman get's banned from the Stadium.

On a sidenote, can we confiscate passport and driving license of Josh so that he cannot travel anywhere outside of MA unless it is in Kraft's plane or the team flight .

What a comeback it is. Pay the man and make sure he doesn't leave.
