Patriots need to get more out of Henderson

Weird, ain't it? the whole thing. He was supposed to be a great passpro back: nope. He was gonna the the elusive 3rd-down pass catching back: nope. And when he runs, he closes his eyes and runs like mad at about a ten-degree downward arc at the nearest defender, after which he either gets tackled or runs straight in the ground like a crippled 737. Is he suicidal? Weird.

I was simply responding to Zuma's post about drafting an OT in the early rounds, which I'm ass-uming are within the top 125 thereabouts... I find that unlikely, given Campbell's entrenchment at LT and Bryant seemingly the heir apparent at RT... The Guard play, OTOH, has been overall unsatisfactory and in need of up-grading at 2/3 positions, at least. What's sad is the draft capital already spent on the IOL between 2020-24 with only Onemenu to show for it; the New boss has already used one early-round pick in an attempt to rectify the situation, and it wouldn't shock to see them use another before one is used on OT next year...
At 1st I thought you meant in the past decade we keep drafting Guards over and over and then hope some of them can start at LT (I m referring to Wynn and possibly Wallace among others).

But you’re saying no T because Campbell and Bryant. I think we need another early round T because Moses is old and we don’t really know much about Bryant. I think it’s imperative we draft an OT early…even if it’s a legit swing tackle we know can get the job done. JMO.

Was our line so great in 2018 that sony michel had a phenomenal run as a rookie .
Yes. The entire reason the offense worked as well as it did that year was because of Joe Thuney and Shaq Mason. When that offensive line was healthy it was dangerous, and of course we had both Gronk and Develin to bolster the run blocking as needed.

Bottom line, our run blocking was pretty damn stacked that year. Current year offensive line isn't really in its prime by comparison, a lot of the guys we've got out there have a ceiling they haven't reached yet and it shows at times. Part and parcel of being a young squad just discovering its potential;

OLs and TEs are also “personnel”.
Sure, but in this context I don't think I'm wrong to interpret "personnel" as specifically the running backs, and the support and scheme around them to be more of a systemic problem.

My point stands though, if one RB struggles, that's on him, but if they're all struggling, there are bigger issues.

Certainly felt like they almost phased him out of the game. Minimal offensive snaps, barely any carries, not returning kicks, no pass targets.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see the third stringer get more action next week as the compliment to Stevenson.

I remember James White struggling and being kinda phased out in his rookie year. Look what happened with him.

I don't remember Sweet feet White ever playing his Rookie year?? Didn't we have Vereen??

Thought he played a little bit iirc and then disappeared. Or so I thought.

Rookie or second year, whenever it was when he got his playing time he wasn't very good. Really undynamic looking and went down on first contact always.
I remember that well because my buddy is a Wisc fan so he would always ask me how he was doing, and I remember complaining about him a lot.

Yes we did (then added Dion Lewis the following season).

Vereen didn't play much his first year or two either because we still had Kevin Faulk & Sheriff Danny Woodhead (plus Sugar Shane was also injured a couple of times IIRC).

Henderson has Nobody like that in front of him. He's also the highest drafted of the bunch since Faulk himself; so there really aren't any excuses.

Henderson is a high second round pick . And so far no major contribution.barmore and dugger only second round contributors in last decade.

Hoping he and Williams start to show of their potential.

Really puzzling. I thought McDaniels would draw up plays to get him involved and in open space but they really havnt.
I'm not so sure he hasn't.

Remember, the Patriots have basically led or not been in any real trouble for 4 straight games now.
I'm starting to think McDaniels is holding some packages back, so it's not on tape. He's been playing a lot of boring chess this season, especially over the last month.

There's a long-term strategy from the entire coaching staff. I'm here for it.
