2026 Draft: Quarterbacks

What do people think about drafting Georgia Tech QB Haynes King with a late day 3 pick. He's listed at 6'3" and 215 but is built like a TE and is a really good runner.

Im thinking about him as a Cam Newton type to run an offence under McDaniels should the worst come to the worst and Maye is out for a length of time. I think it would make sense to craft a specific playbook for him in that circumstance much like McDaniels did for Cam. There's no point giving a backup QB the Maye playbook because it's always going to be a severe downgrade (see Dobbs, josh) so why not have a QB who does some things very well and play to his strengths?

Plus King has off the charts character, has experience and is the type of guy who puts it all on the line. We wouldn't need a future starter or a high upside prospect, just someone with the character to get the job done if adversity hits. I'm intrigued.

The comp I sometimes see for King is Tim Tebow and we know who fell in love with Tebow. But the good thing is, King will never be a starter so we don't need to worry about the Tebow hype train. to me, he doesn't look dissimilar to Drake Maye when he's running. The one big down side is his long throwing motion.

Why not make him a TE/HB/RB?

He looks like he's 35:

We had that endless debate with Tebow. I don't want to have it again. He's an older prospect but only 24 years. 6th year in college which is the experience I talked about.

6th and 7th round picks are crapshoots so why not go in with a plan to make them less so? It's why I never have a problem drafting special teamer there.

IMO that's fine because we definitely need upgrade(s) at the backup QB position. The Dynasty HC was one that believed in it.

14/21 - 205 yards. 14 carries for 120 yards and 1 TD today.

Puts Georgia Tech in prime position to take the ACC.

Just here for my monthly reminder that I hope this guy becomes our backup QB. 4th round or later if he lasts
