Me? I have never been accused of either in my 21 years here but their is always a first time. New level achieved
Try reading your post. Its ridiculous.

Ok, after all the gathered info and opinions that have been offered, I now have my top 3 trades and their priorities. Unfortunately 2 of them are within the division which make them less likely and/or will increase the cost to get them.

The priorities are #1 - Safety
#2 - RB
#3 - Edge

For the most part I'm not looking for the stars, just someone solid to add to the depth of the rotation and upgrade us athletically. Hawkins would make a fine #3 safety. The addition of Budda Baker would be the bolt of lightning that would jump start our defense for the "adequate" category to something to be worried about. His addition would make EVERY one better. I'd be willing to part with a day two pick if we can get him signed to a 2 to 3 year deal.

RB- Bryce H the Jets RB would seem to be ideal, but any of the vast number of guys that have been bantyed about would be find. The fact is we don't need a replacement per se, we just need a 3rd guy to replace Gibson and do what he did. It would probably take an overpay to get them trade within the division. A 4th at a minimum.

Edge - Phillips is the type of guy I'm looking for. Not a star...yet, but someone coming off 2 years of injuries, playing good if not spectacular football and would add depth and the POTENTIAL to be something more.

IIRC we DON'T need another WR. We are currently the 6th best passing attack in the league and are no where NEAR our peak potential with our current group. Think about it. given the cap and draft assets it would take to get a true #1 WR, will the group's production go up THAT much from where it is now or would he just be taking targets and yds from the guys who are already here.?

Finally, based on what I'm hearing, with all the talk of the running game, is that we are NOT as far as it would seem from getting a respectable run game, good enough to compliment and already very good passing game. Good running games take a lot of timing in the blocking and cuts for the backs. I partially blame the soft camps and the fact the OL is unfamiliar with each other and the RB's.

If you look closely at the play where Maye makes that great pass with the Bill's DT dragging on his left arm. I wanted to know how he got there. It turns out that he lined up over Wilson's inside shoulder at the snap BOTH Wilson and Campbell pull down to the right and BOTH pass up this guy and he ends up following Campbell and chases down Maye as he slows down his roll out. No one touched him, or even saw him. That's a mistake, either in execution or design. Maybe Campbell should have peeled back and taken him. Maybe Josh thought the ball would be out before the DT could be a factor. We don't know. That is why PFF scores are just indications not absolutes.

Point being is just because the running game isn't working now, doesn't mean it won't improve with more familiarity on the part of a group playing a new offense, and don't know each other from adam.
Thanks Ken,

Phillips would be a good gamble, I agree, but as you note the Dolphins are in our division so I doubt they will trade Phillips to the present AFC East leader.

In a previous post I suggested that we could trade for J Simmons from the Titans (they are obviously rebuilding and not in the AFC East). Simmons is 28 and matched with Barmore, we would be stronger than Williams and Barmore (hard to believe). Williams is then a DE because he is quite mobile and can stop the run as well. I think kicking Williams outside might be a home run. Of course this gives us a lot of flexiblity as well because Williams and White can play inside or outside. A bit unconventional solution but one I think could be very exciting. Williams plays DE sometimes, not a crazy idea to play Williams at DE more often.

Being on Team Ridiculous is a lot of fun. I should know I am Captain Ridiculous.
I may be new to the team...but I'm going to be pushing for playing time. I don't take a back seat to nobody.

Isn't Woodson our free safety?

I do STRONGLY agree that we need a safety. After Woodson, we aren't very good. BTW, I also do not support moving Dugger at this int. He is an OK BACKUP strong safety.
Hawkins and Woodson are both better suited to free safety. Centerfielders who play deep or provide help to a corner but aren't necessarily going to primarily cover anyone. Maybe Woodson can develop some coverage skills but right now that isn't our strong suit.

Any time you add a future HOFer who is still in his 20's, it's a big plus to your team and everyone around him gets better. What do you think the cost would be. Would you give up a #1 pick that's likely going to be in the 20's somewhere. Picture how you might feel next April waiting until pick 51 for the Pats first pick?

I can see a case for both positions. Simmons would make our DL positively scary and vastly impacts even the best offenses and would impact everyone on the defense. Great possibility. Do you make that deal?

Can we get a veteran in lieu of keon white to bolster pass rush . Maybe get back von noy ??

I donno if jaelyn Phillips can be used as a edge rusher ? I thought white could man the role but he has been a big disappointment.

Kamara could be the saquon Barkley player for us. Safe hands - Swiss army knife and teams will stop stacking the box against run . We can kill them with fast screens .

Simmons has two years left on his contract and reportedly has requested a trade with acceptable teams included in the trade request. The Patriots are on Simmons trade list, reportedly. Why wouldn't the Titans let go of a 2 year contract at $20m+ per year when Simmons will never sign again with them? The Titans will not win anything in 2026 or 2027. The players request means a lot. The Titans say they are not trading Simmons which means they are strongly considering it.

It is not going to be a 1st round pick since Simmons is making $20M+ per year and wants out. The Titans have to take a discount to liquidate the contract. A 2nd or 3rd? Absolutely.

Everyone talking about rickey scoops. Bills too.

Looks like meyers and olave on the trade block . Since we have Boutte and Chism , I wouldn't want meyers . Besides we have diggs who is primary slot now.

I actually would take Meyers, but play him at X/Z with Diggs in the slot.

Boutte / Meyers / Diggs is a pretty good top 3. Boutte can threaten deep just enough but can also be a boundary WR, and Diggs & Meyers find the soft spots in the zone but also have sharp enough routes to beat man. Meyers already knows the offense. It makes sense to me.

Does this mean we trade away Hollins as I absolutely see no need for him . We anyways have two tight ends .

And if meyers comes in pop and Chism development will get even more stunted . Pop is a goner in that scenario.

Trade pop for Meyers .

I'd probably do a WR swap, yeah. But ultimately the team needs talent, they can't worry about the 5th or 6th WR that much. Chism's ridden the bench all year already so I doubt that trade hurts him.

I saw elsewhere that Mike Reiss reported it would "take a 3rd" for Breece Hall. Now, I don't really expect the Jets to trade with the Patriots, but if they were willing, I'd do that in a heartbeat. He's what NE needs, he's only a year older than Drake. Breece & TreVeyon together would be a very solid combination for several years.

Breece DID have 6 fumbles last year, I only see 1 so far this year on NFL Reference.
Definitely a good runner, but not sure he's the same guy as B4 his injury.

I don't see Baker's contract needing to be renegotiated.

Van Noy has been my favorite binky since he was on the bubble after coming here from NO.

But, NO is also the response to acquiring him. He is way too long in the tooth.

Ok because KW have A.J. Brown's ceiling. There's a KW in every Draft as long as Wolf ain't shopping for the groceries.
I’m hoping he becomes a stud
But absolutely no production at this point
McD’s offense is a thinking process at the LOS fir our WR’s
Maye does not trust him yet for some reason
Hopefully it’s just a learning curve
He has promise with that speed

Yes, we could certainly use an upgrade at safety, EDGE player, a running back and a corner.
=================
Please list the much better #3 and #4 safeties other teams have.
===================
BE SERIOUS! We might very well have lost on Sunday if Dugger had been out. The first play was a serious error by an inexperienced defensive play-caller, which Dugger might have done better at in the past. Of course, instead of Dugger, we could have counted on Pettus and Schooler to fill in, or perhaps one of our Practice Squad players. ROFL!
===========
We lost two EDGE players and had one coming back from injury/illness. Chaisson had to play more than he should have AND we had a very good backup in Tavai. Tavai was an ILB filling in as next man up and doing an OK job.
==========
I STRONGLY disagree with calling players like Dugger (and Tavai) unusable. The "proper" word is upgradable. I would even disagree calling Tavai upgradable. He and Ponder are the inexpensive deep (2 injury) backups. And they both play a lot on Special Teams.
=========
Tavai has a role, he's great setting the edge and is a sure tackler. Coming back from injury he we will slowly worked in the rotation. He's usable. Dugger is a liability and schooler seems to be getting snaps at times over him.

He's a totally different player and that injury last season under the Jarod rust season may have just really ruined Dugger. But safety and edge are huge needs as Landry and Chaisson are dealing with injuries and playing through them.
