AFC East Division Race (10/13 - Patriots Now on Top After Bills Loss)

I think injuries are what are allowing us to catch the Bills right now.

I sort of feel the same about wishing the fans had had their moment. But I also feel like they had five years to figure it out in Josh Allen's prime and didn't do it. They really only have themselves to blame.
You're right about the injuries.

Nope.

I mean there are reasons they haven't taken advantage of the window and maybe he's a bigger part of the failure then we think.

But I'm also not quite ready to put that all on him. Most probably were questioning Stafford too before he got out of Detroit. Maybe that's what Allen needs too or maybe it is on him.

I'm certainly not sure but I think he's probably more like Stafford than an all out loser.
Stafford never relied on his mobility like Allen does.

Mobile QBs almost never play past 36, 37. Usually well before that.

Do you see signs he's any less mobile yet?

There coming back to the pack would seem to have more to do with the rest of the roster then Allen. But point taken that mobility could start to fade with age and if they need a reset year or 2 that could run out the clock on his mobility.

They almost should be panicking this year and overspend on a weapon and DB at the deadline. But that could just make resetting harder.

I definitely don't think the Bill's are close to going there he's got seats to sell in the new stadium but it almost makes sense for Allen to blast his way out but he doesn't seem like the type and at least doesn't seem ready for that yet.

I do, he's limping around at the end of games, not getting out of the pocket as fast. That rollout to the left, 2 years ago, he squares and throws that pass normally. He didn't have time to, so he shuffled it out there like a toolbag.

Interesting analysis

Now we just need to figure out how to
A. get Williams - Chism more involved in pass offense
Williams gotta figure his own **** out. Had a chance on Sunday, ran the wrong route.

It's the NFL. If he wants on to the field, he's gotta figure out how to beat Diggs, Boutte and Douglas out.

Your daily reminder that the Bills:
• Are $8M over the 2026 cap
• Have zero All-Pros on their roster outside of Allen
• Have an 800 yard slot WR as their WR1 & drafted N'Keal Harry last year
• Defense is mediocre with barely any young talent

Also, here is their last 3 draft classes:

To date, they've amounted to a receiving TE, a guard, a safety & a DT.

We've seen this story before. The bills are the 2019 pats.
That's actually an insult to the 2019 Patriots who won a Super Bowl the year prior. The better comparison is with the 2015-2020 Packers. Both teams would get hyped up by the media before and during the season while ignoring major weaknesses on the team. By the time the playoffs came around, they were overwhelmed and eliminated.

Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott (who really calls the shots) are in denial. They finally got a ground game, but can't throw it. McDermott is a defensive guy, but can't draft any defensive players. Take away Allen and they have one of the worst rosters in the NFL.

What I'm saying is.. in Tennessee never heard this.. when he was traded to Philly the during his first season never heard of this.. furthermore they just won a superbowl with him. If he was such a cancer..

The problem is Howie Roseman isn't known for giving players away, and to move AJ Brown he'll have to take a big cap hit so he'll need something good in return.

We have 57m or in that vicinity. To get ahead start on FA to aquire a caliber of player like AJ we'd likely ask him to restructure his deal and give him more upfront money and Philly would have to be willing to agree with us on the dead cap.. that is just my thinking? I care more about the caliber of player than anything.

The immediate cap problem is on Philly's side. The long-term cap problem is on our side.

I'm no capologist but my understanding is that if they move him they take an immediate $10.7M cap hit for his currently pro-rated bonus, and they only have $11.6M in space for the rest of the year which is not enough to run the team for the rest of the season. I don't know what levers they can pull at this point to make more cap space, but to do a deal Howie would have to get back enough in return to make it worth his effort. One media guy just suggested it'd take Boutte, Chaisson and next year's 3rd. I don't see us making that move. It removes both cap space and draft capital from next year's team in an era where IMO we are still behind the curve when it comes to overall team talent. I'd rather us keep Boutte and Chaisson and the 3rd and see where things go from here.

Teams with big contract QBs are looking very vulnerable right now, mostly due to injury riddled rosters and lack of quality depth.

Thank you for this BL. This gives me great insights. I appreciate you posting on this. Boutte is on a rookie deal.. pretty much making peanuts. He's a keeper someone who Vrabel loves and has a great connection with Drake.. he'll be extended. Chaisson is on a 1 or deal He's played well lately dealing with a knee he'll likely be extended. So I'm with you. They're allure of getting AJ is just what is intriguing.. I hate for him to go to Buffalo.

Twin: I don't think the Bills have what it takes to get him. They have some cap Issues.

I want to see Maye have his face buried in that tablet with JMD in every close game or game we are behind in. That was the Hallmark of Brady, always looking for the edge. I didn't see it with Mac Jones. And it as disappointing.
