I can't remember the last time K. Williams caught a pass. Once he and Drake get on the same page, with Diggs, Boutte and Henry this offense will be a problem!

Pretty exciting man, boutte and douglas are still improving- we haven’t seen their ceilings yet. Williams has potential

Pop Douglas is saying hold my beer.

It was matchups. That bum Jonas Sanker was matched up on Douglas way too much in the first half, and he just cooked him every time.

It got to the point at the end of the game, they were even targeting McKinistry and winning.

I think we are going to be a pass First Offense: if Maye continues on his trajectory. Maye is too good a passer for us to be a run First Team.

That's who McDaniels wants to be. You still have to run the ball a little, even if it doesn't work, to set up play action and give your defense a rest.

The second part of the dynasty we became a pass heavy offense.. we had the weapon.. moss,Hernandez, gronk, Jules & Welker during those years.. I remember we used to use the pass to set up the run.. we would get up on teams and then the run game would control the clock.

I would say it's already a problem for opposing Ds.
That said, there will be games where we will need to run the ball, something we are really struggling with right now.
Run blocking needs to get much, much better.

To only have the run game to worry about is a win. Something that is controlled by the players. I would rather see this brand of football then be posting about draft position in October like the last few seasons..

Oh I agree 100%.
Our offense is exciting to watch.
I have friends who aren't Pats fans and they have commented how fun it is to watch Maye, it's been a revelation, especially considering what we had to go through the past 3-4 years.
We all remember, run, run, short pass, punt!
Man that was painful.
But, man we gotta get the run game going. We don't have to be the Eagles or Ravens of last year, but we need to get the run going even a little more.

I'm with you DD. Ultimately the running game will be more consistent. Rham and Henderson are good backs.. Henderson is a rookie but talented and maybe the adjustment to the pros is taking a little longer than originally anticipated.

Rham gets hit alot in the backfield. Before he even gets a chance to make a cut. The look on Vrabel's face yesterday said it all.

We will need to pass to open up the running game.

I'm watching David Andrews on Zolak and Bertrand right now, and he's talking about how the run game has been bad, and really needs to get going. His thoughts are exactly the same as mine, you can't put it all on Drake every single week.

Yeah he's correct. But the team is making winning plays by drake playing at this level. The running game absolutely needs an injection.. as was mentioning we likely will need to continue to pass the ball.. getting defenders off the line of scrimmage where running lanes open up.

My nightmare year was 2011 when that incredible offense was going great guns.

Then Gronk got injured with a high ankle sprain.

Still, Brady ate the Giants alive in the second half. He had several completions in a row. The Giants were reeling, and after a game, Strahan revealed that they even talked in the huddle about feeling cooked as Brady went up tempo and started hitting intermediate routes all over the field.

We got the ball from our own 10 yd line down to the Giants 40 and then O'Brien abandoned the empty backfield up tempo package and we decided to go jumbo. The Giants substituted and we ran the ball for.....

.... -2 yards.

One play later Wes Welker dropped the ball between two defenders.

The refs said to one another (mic'd up caught it), "That would've been the ball game..."

I'll never understand why we went to the run when the Patriots had strung 7 or 8 passing plays together. Or at the very, go to empty backfield and then have a runner do an end around or even come in for a delayed handoff. Anything other than a jumbo package.

Upstater.. I commend you. You a pin point accurate memory. Impressive.

Yeah 2011 was unreal.. 33PPG.. when Gronk got hurt was it the Ravens game?? He was essentially a decoy in the SB.. Hernandez has masterful divisional round game against the Broncos we won 52-10..

I knew once elite hit that 50 yard Bomb to Manning manningham on the left sideline they would score.. our secondary was abysmal that season.

Brings me to the point that this season we are going to have to utilize the passing game to help open up the run.. we did this plenty over the years. The league is pass first.. the running game is not completely 100% ineffective the backs have gotten yards in spots just not consistently..

Drake looks like a new man out there. Football is back and I can't wait to see what lies ahead in the rest of the season.
