It is a win for the Pats no matter who loses when it is 2 AFC teams fighting for the playoffs. And as much as it is fun to see KC lose... The Jags are no 4-1 and have a pretty easy schedule too.
I have said since the beginning of the year this is a playoffs or bust kind of year and if they fail to make the playoffs it will be a massive waste. We need playoff experience if we want this team to get where we want it to go in the next few years. That and of course keep building and particularly keep drafting well.
In any case the point is even if KC loses to the Lions and go 2-4... I don' believe they will be out of the playoffs. Not until they are officially out.
Jags on the other hand have a fairly mild schedule and a nice 4-1 with arguably the 2 teams they were the most worried about to start the year behind them.
Playoffs race IMO is a 8 team race. I already have any teams 1-4 or worse dead in the water. Jets, Dolphins, Browns, Titans, Raiders... and yes... even the Ravens i am very confident aren't going anywhere this year. I also think the Texans are bad with a tough schedule. So i don't give them much of a chance nor do the Burrow-less Bengals have one.
I still have (for now). Bills, Pats, Indy, Jags, Pitt, Den, LAC and KC in it. I think they will all be in or more or less all year. Thankfully that tie breaker loss to Pitt won't matter as they will run away with the division. But interestingly if this is the case... the Pats will not get a head to head tie breaker with any of these teams (save the Bills) cause hey don't play any.
This means it comes down to conference record and the Pats are 2-2 there. It is early days yet, but the point is this... Pats may need to finish with a better record than other teams in the WC race, cause they are in a weird spot where a tie can go very badly for them.
