i wonder about Daniels durability at this point... is he going to make it long term like Jackson or is he going to end up like RG Knee...To me it was between Daniels and Maye.
Daniels was arguably more ready coming into the pros, he had five solid seasons in college and his last two at LSU were absolutely electric (similar to the five year career of Joe Burrow with his last two electric years at LSU). Also, at LSU Daniels was used to playing with and against talent that is about as high as it gets in college. His fast start isn't really much of a shock. However, he has a slight build that, when combined with his duel threat running, opens questions about his long term durability, but that largely remains to be seen, he hasn't seemed particularly injury prone so far.
Maye is 2 1/3 years younger than Daniels and started two full years at North Carolina (a lower level program) so he has much less college experience than Daniels. However, he is a great athlete with a big strong body that reminds one of a (one inch) shorter and (ten pounds) lighter version of Josh Allen. The question was how he would adapt to the pro game with his lack of experience, especially in big games. So far I have to say that I'm absolutely thrilled with Mayes, his toughness, work ethic, and maturity. Plus, he didn't allow for the disfunction (poor players and awful coaching) to wreck his confidence, he is a physically and emotionally tough young man.
Top 5 player on this team.A full 7 pages in and there are only 2 posts on Marcus Jones, who continues to lock down the slot WR, make excellent tackles on the boundary, and now shows again how dangerous he is returning kicks.
Right, but the context was paying him $20 million in the slot while also acquiring a WR1 in trade or free agency… so probably for another $30 million. He's not a strict slot though. He's a slot/Z and if today is a sign of the future, regardless of where he lines up, he's WR1.
Great job pointing out his tackling.A full 7 pages in and there are only 2 posts on Marcus Jones, who continues to lock down the slot WR, make excellent tackles on the boundary, and now shows again how dangerous he is returning kicks.
It's strange how Sam is so quick to give players on other teams early praise, but has to caveat when trying to do the same with Pats. Simmons vs Campbell...Always ensure there is a somewhat negative spin in your posts, dissapointing, because otherwise, you were doing pretty well today. Try looking at the positive more often, it makes life somewhat easier to deal with. Only trying to help btw.
I said this in the game day thread, Jack Gibbens is quietly becoming one of the Patriots better defensive players. He is an underrated free agent pick up. I am guessing he was supplanted Eliss in the starting line up.
There's been a lot of "whispers" linking Vrabel and Brown for a re-union, but there was no real reason for the Eagles to move him, and the cap hit is significant. But, they seem to be in a position to afford to lose him at this stage, and defer much of the cap hit into 2026. Question is - what do you trade? Would you send a 1st?I think he's the only WR I'd trade for.
Unless he starts tweeting about wanting to "withdraw" and subsequently asking for a trade. I'm not saying we're there but we may be a step closer to the reunion. There's been a lot of "whispers" linking Vrabel and Brown for a re-union, but there was no real reason for the Eagles to move him, and the cap hit is significant. I would.
He's not big but he likes to throw it around and drop the wood.Great job pointing out his tackling.
You can’t give out a nickname that normal people don’t understand.3 Headed Running back room. Never seen Josh Rock it like he has. Back line up in the line, motion him Genius. My name for the backs.
King Ghidorah is a three-headed, winged dragon-like kaiju from the Godzilla franchise
Exactly right. As the supporting cast rounds into form, and he doesn’t need to worry about his OL hanging him out to dry every other play, he needs to train his mind to be ok with a sack or throw away when things do break down. When things go as planned, make the plays. If one OL loses their rep, maybe scramble out and look for a play if it’s there. If the whole pocket collapses, protect the ball and yourself and take the sack. Even on 3rd down. Let Baringer go boom one. With the OL playing well, JMcD, Diggs coming on, that is winning football. There are so many things to talk about with this game all around. The CB trio and how that looks. The OL really coming together with Campbell now 4 games in. At this point you can comfortably say, yes he was worth that pick.
I still question if this team is doing enough to get Williams and Henderson involved. And yes, I think Chism should have a look. Henry has looked maybe the best he has in his career these first 4 games. The play of the DL and particularly Milton Williams, who has shown yes. He is worth that big contract.
But we all know, the real story is Maye. How good is he? How good will he be? We are 1 quarter into year 2 of what we believed would be a 3 year project not unlike the very raw Josh Allen years.
I know we are being positive, but i think we are STILL not giving Maye enough credit. We don't need to revisit how bad his cast was in year 1. Let's focus on year 2. He is now learning to play with a decent overall 52. Not every single thing will fall on him this year like it did last year. He has a run game he can lean on. An OL who can block and a defense that is representative.
His offensive cast overall is still bottom 10 in the league. Maybe bottom 5? But it is still much improved over last year. He now needs to learn how to win. And also needs to learn how to manage a game in the NFL. Now that he doesn't need to create something every play or have to carry a subpar run game and has a D is a bit more dynamic. He now has to learn how to manage this. When to try to make plays and when to not cause he has other players he can depend on who won't blow it automatically if he doesn't pull a rabbit out of his ass. This is a new skill he has to learn. How to win games, now that they are indeed winnable. This is still something he has to work on.
But overall while we are only 4 game in year 2 of the Drake Maye experiment. It is clear he has taken a step. And he is doing it through to not great players behind a not great OL. They aren't trash anymore, but still not great. Imagine how he'd look if he had a true #1 WR. Just throwing that out there. But in 4 games with a now decent OL we have seen a vast improvement. He has had 2 almost perfectly clean games. That is about what he had last year. He is getting down better before hits come and he is more accurate.
Accuracy is still an issue even with his insane completion %. He still needs to make less mistakes. His first or second pass this game was highly questionable. But while his competition hasn't been great. It is hard to argue with 7 TDs 2 Ints +70%. Eventually you are who your numbers say you are. Now we needs wins to follow. And that means consistency.
Sam hates the PatriotsIt's strange how Sam is so quick to give players on other teams early praise, but has to caveat when trying to do the same with Pats. Simmons vs Campbell...
Then today he states "Dart is very good" after one game.
If Dart had played that same first game for the Pats there is a zero% chance his spin wouldn't have had some negative caveat to it.
Strange.
Yeah, sorry that's what I was trying to say, but didn't say it well. I personally wouldn't attempt a mid-season trade either, but it kinda feels like such a situation. If they don't get in on the bidding, someone else may take him.Unless he starts tweeting about wanting to "withdraw" and subsequently asking for a trade. I'm not saying we're there but we may be a step closer to the reunion.
As for the value, I'm no good at determining trade value, but he might be the person to complete our WR corps. I doubt it happens in-season, but I think it's a real possibility next off-season.
