Drake definitely is on a upward arch.. he's going to make some mistakes.. but he does come back better typically afterwards.

Efficiency will be the key for him.. that is conducive to winning. I still think you have to play rham.. now if he is coughing it up.. then his snaps will be decreased. Rham is an important part of the offense and a relief valve for Drake. Ultimately you'd like Henderson to become that player. Pop.. 7 yards yesterday is just inexplicably bad for a guy who was showing the last 2 seasons that he could be a receiving threat.
But not as our Workhorse RB: pass catcher blocker from now on.

Had the ball not been tipped further inside to where Echols intercepted it, the outside defender most certainly woulda had a play on the ball. He needed a higher arching pass. If you can’t see that, welp.
I agree that in this case he may have been able to drop it in, though Boutte appears to take a flat angle close to the outside defender. But he also could have thrown a high rope to get it over any linemen. Either way he's got to get it higher, I don't even think Heyward had to jump for it.

I want Henderson as featured back
I think Gibson is a better choice. Good all-around back, size, speed, receiving ability. Rham needs a couple of weeks to get his act together. If you can't trust a running back to not fumble through ordinary contact, then he's not really an NFL running back. He's got to anticipate that all these defenders nowadays are slapping at the ball throughout the run. Henderson has a ways to go, he's not quite ready.

I feel really good about them. Maye’s play, and the way the defense pulled together down 14-0 leads me to believe good things are going to come their way. 5 fumbles is a fluke.

The flashes are there thats for sure. They did cut down on the penalties this week. Hopefully they learn from the turnovers now and respond. We only punted once yesterday, lots of potential/ room to grow.

I thought the only bad penalty was Onwenu being downfield. I don't think we had any false starts.

Thats what impresses me most about Drake. In this offense you have to be precise more than most offenses. The weapons just aren’t there. Alot of qbs his age would have a much tougher time. He doesn’t have the luxury of dumping it off to terry mclaurin in the flat and having him go for 60 yards or rome odunze running wide open 30 yards downfield . HOPEFULLY Henderson and Williams give him that big play threat eventually but through 3 weeks hes basically had to be try and be Brady without a Gronk or Moss around. Its alot to ask and hes mostly delivered with maybe a handful of poor plays - not too bad over 3 games.

All the radio guys are in favor of benching Rham this week vs CAR.
I'm not opposed. But, if most agree with that, then shouldn't you also bench Pop?
He has the 83rd worst yards per route in the NFL. He's totaled 13 Targets / 5 Catches for 13 Yards.
Completely useless. He needs to be benched, and give Chism the active spot
+ More snaps for Williams - who has 2 Targets / 2 Catches for 20 Yards
We're not seeing the whole tape though. I know early that Douglas split double coverage and had 10 yards on both defenders for an easy TD but Drake was sped up by the fast collapsing pocket and didn't see him. Douglas had an easy TD and his route wasn't even long developing. If he was the first read on that play, Drake delivers it to him even with the collapsing pocket, but Drake was looking right.

Well said. Agreed there. You summarize it perfectly. Look at Mahomes. Would anyone say he looks like the guys who is a perennial all pro and sb winning qb? He has to rely on guys that typically weren't reliable when they were here juju and Thornton. However that KC offense without any real play makers is bad. Henderson gets spotty snaps and that directly impacts his abilities. He needs to consistently be given snaps to really tap into his speed and abilities to beat LBs on wheel routes. Pop isn't performing.. Diggs is still working his way back from ACL.. Hollins is a role specific player. The only guys that have made impact plays are Boutte, rham and Henry. Pop is hurting the offense right now more than helping. Williams needs to also be given more chances to open up the offense downfield.

Gibson has fumble issues in Washington and that's why they didn't resign him. However i think he's a good back and hasn't had the issue here.. 40 we are seemingly cursed at home.. 3-16 or something like that home record at Gillette past few seasons. Henderson needs more opportunities to have an impact.. same with Williams.. you can only affect the game so much when you in on a few snaps. It takes a player some time to get a feel of ehat the defense is trying to do. What happen yesterday will probably never happen again in an nfl game of consecutive non contact fumbles.. those are corrective concentration based issues.

Seriously?

3 games so far against teams that I think are bad. All one score games and a few plays in either could have flipped the results. This team is proving exactly what it is - still one of the worst in the NFL.

Many people got fooled into thinking the team was better than that because of how much they improved in the offseason - that's a reflection of how bad last year's team was. Last year's roster was probably the least talented team I've ever seen in the NFL. Sure we won 4 games but sometimes results are wonky. We caught CIN with their heads up their asses weak one, BUF resting their key guys in the finale and we squeaked out a win. The other wins were against two of the other worst teams in the NFL (CHI, NYJ) who each still had way more talent than this team. The massive upgrades we made in talent just got this team back on the same level as all the other worst teams in the NFL, of which they still are one.

Most of the schedule this year is against such teams though so I expect more of the same as what we've seen so far - close games against other crap teams. Hopefully they win most of them so they can push for the playoffs, even though it will be a phony record and they'll get trounced in the Wild Card round unless their opponent ****s the bed. Next best would honestly be that they end up losing all/most of those games so they get a great pick at least. Worst case scenario, at least for the future of the team is that they keep win one-lose oning their way to a middle of the pack record and pick 15th.

I'll keep rooting for them to win unless or until they lose enough that it makes sense to switch to tank goals.

Once he shows that he can pass protect and break tackles. He has been a sneaky disappointment through three games. A lot of people, including myself, thought he would make an immediate impact.

I’m not convinced he is a feature back which is a big reason we still need Rham.

I agree with most of this, they are still a bad team.

They may have done OK in this years draft but this was a full rebuild job from the ground up. That usually takes a least 2 good drafts picking really high. This is compounded by the fact that the draft for the first year of rebuild, 2024’s class, was, Maye apart, a complete bust.

So really, QB aside, we are back to Y1 of the rebuild. They need a helluva lot more talent to even begin to be competitive on a week by week basis.

And, yeah, last years team was one of the worst teams you could ever field in the National Football League. It would have been an embarrassment in the CFL let alone the NFL. Just shockingly inept in every possible way!

We are worst in SOS at 0.366.

7 pressures allowed for Campbell is a pace of 119 for the whole 17 game season. I googled "most pressures allowed by left tackles 2024" and no exact answer came up but an AI write up saying the Commanders LT unit gave up 57 which was terrible. So with 7 pressures, even if 0 sacks, not surprising it rates as a bad game for Campbell.

OL stats in general can be misleading/unreliable and he was against a great pass rushing duo including arguably best in the league. I was against the pick but overall I'm not going to pretend like he hasn't been ok so far this year.
