If BB was here, he'd say it plainly - - Just too many mistakes, period.
It's not that they're untalented, the wrong players, bad coaching/schemes... it's none of that.
They had the Steelers figured out on both sides of the ball - except for ~3 bad plays on D...
And FIVE freaking turnovers on O. Play this game 10 times, and we win 8 of them.

But Maye needs to be near-perfect, and the skill players have to be better (All 3 RB's, Pop, Diggs, Henry).
Henry had a big game, but he has drops & his horrendous blocking is a sneaky reason for some blown up pockets.

Curran is ridiculous, blaming Maye for the end zone int. **** Curran
I didn't see Curran but I it looked like Maye followed his target and the DL easily deflected the pass. That is on Maye.

Yes! This is 100% sandlot pickup game nonsense.

Take care of the ball. You can't score without it.
He's getting better about throwing the ball away earlier, and about sliding and running out of bounds. So he's clearly being taught things he needs to know. But he still needs to learn that taking the sack is 100% better than fumbling the ball.

Ya, but he also needs to learn you don't slide when you have to run for a ~3yd gain up the middle to secure a 1st down with LB's coming in. You have to dive forward at their feet. He's slid too early on "must-have" 3rd & short runs a couple times. The coaches need to not shackle his ability to make critical 1st downs.

Miami win will end up hurting the Pats draft position, similar to the Bengals win in the opener last year. Probably the difference between a top 5 and top 10 pick. Might as well be 0-3 right now, because this team is going nowhere.

Also saw 23.6% missed tackle rate yesterday which is the highest in a game since 2016.

Ellis needs to be benched too. He was taken out luckily.

Williams being out is really hurting this team. Don't know what the tackling would be like but having Zack take over duties has clearly impacted the team

Also, the fact the Pats benched multiple players (Austin, Ellis) and Stevenson wasn't one of them damages Vrabel's credibility. What a ****in joke.

Not really. It's on the o-line to keep the lineman's arms down, especially that close to the endzoe. The "put air" under it, from reporters and even Vrabel today is nonsense. He had 10ish yards to work with. Unless the film shows different, it wasn't on Maye. Or at least not all on Maye.

This will look a lot better when they're 1-4 after the Buffalo game. Look at that SOS

At the time of the play, I thought Maye could have floated the pass to the back corner. I have not seen the play except for the live game, so I am not sure.

The more I’ve thought about it, I want to continue cleaning the room of pre Vrabel guys, besides a select few.

Seems like most guys leftover from the BB era have a stink on them from the previous regime. Stevenson, Onwenu, Douglas, Dugger. You still just sense the lethargy here from these guys.

A guy like Hunter Henry is one of the few exceptions. Really happy with his play so far.

The players who didn't hold on to the ball.

Pain and simple - don't turn the ball over five times and this is a different game. The players need to do better. Thats not on Vrabel. It is on the players. There is no two ways about it. Sloppy all game long.
And how many penalties did they have?

Every player has been taught since they were kids to avoid mistakes and penalties. If they don't get it by now maybe a new coach isn't the problem.

I must say that my heart goes out to the season ticket holders. The Pats home record has been horrendous for years.

I also can't get over Peppers playing considerably better than any of our safeties and having a game-changing forced TO. Another thing that makes me seriously question what Vrabel is doing.

It looked like both he and Gibson were benched. Henderson was in there running it with both arms over the ball.

They had 5 penalties in the first 15 minutes of the game covering the first 2 drives on offense and defense. They had 2 penalties the rest of the game - the Onwenu too far down the field and the Davis uncatchable DPI call. I actually thought they showed great improvement on this front today — no false starts, no offensive holding penalties, no delay of games.

A Austin is the Harry of CB's Big for nothing.

It's all three of these things to an extent, that's what creates mistakes. That's the only reason why we're here.

Bad OL play with a meek lineup and inconsistent RB play that can be disasterous, which can make for wonky play calling, where the run isn't trusted, so then you see your QB's head get bounced on the ground by a +210lb human, so you call a pass the next play and he throws an int.

The most frustrating of all is a lack of fundamental football. It isn't a translating-to-the-NFL issue (which still exist, but that's normal - an example being Maye developing as a QB). The turnovers yesterday are inexcusable, that is WHY we brought in Vrabel. Penalties that kill drives. Turnovers. Other ****.
