It’s myopic to think that last play or the ending of the game was on Douglas. He was tackled as soon as the ball got there. The pass was also behind the sticks on 4th down. It was a terrible play call.
The offense turned the ball over 5 times, that’s why they lost. They cleaned up the penalties in the second half, so I’m not slamming them for those. Mistakes… just like the last two weeks.
His left foot, when he caught it, is on the first down line; he just hits the ground forward it's a first down. 100% on Douglas. It was a mental error not a physical error. He needs to know where the stick is so he knows what he has to do when he catches it. Simple, before the play he needs to look at the sticks.
Douglas is a JAG, was a JAG for 2 years. He's just OK, nothing special about him, has no catch radius but until this year he showed better hands, but he looks like he has smaller arms than Campbell.
Even the almost pick, he jogged his route instead of running it, only sped up when he saw the ball was too far in front of him, even then, he only couldn't reach it due to his catch radius.
Maye and Douglas have never clicked for whatever reason. 13 targets and 5 receptions.
Maye has completed 77.42% of passes to players not named Douglas and 38.46% to Douglas. It's obviously not clicking, try something else out. Whether it's like the Miami game and Diggs in the slot the whole time or replace him with Chism. Clearly does not work with Douglas right now.
I lean toward Chism because the WR room lacks YAC, all the YAC comes from RB's and once in a while Henry.
Also need more Kyle Williams, you could tell Steelers respected his speed, they played way off him. Let's not wait until eliminated from the playoffs to see Chism go 10 for 120 and Williams catching a bomb.
BTW, I first accidentally watched Hollins because he's #13 and WIlliams is #18 and I was thinking, wow, Williams sucks, he looks like my grandmother out there he is so methodically slow, then thankfully realized that wasn't him.
