As Parcells used to say, You are what your record says, no excuses

Today
14 points
5 turnovers
5 sacks

1-2 record

Speaks for itself. Still a bottom 5 team

I think some people are conveniently leaving out the fact that the Steelers are absolutely awful. They were giving up 30 plus a game. I would not look at the Patriots success at moving the ball today even though they didn't score as a indication of what kind of offense they have.

I think the Patriots are definitely a 14 ppg offense until proven otherwise.

My bad you’re right he’s crushing it.

He’s not even a year removed from an ACL tear.
Most players wouldn’t even be on the field yet.
Hes playing about 50% of the snaps and had 13 catches in 3 games.

I think Pop has sucked but it wasn’t a gimme conversion like it’s being made out to be IMO. He stepped back because he thought they were going to stuff him and thus tried to make a move.

Whatever happened to forward progress calls?

Henry didn't make the 1st down but he got pushed back 2 yards, and they spotted it where he was tackled.
There's no forward progress when you voluntarily retreat like he did. Voluntary retreat resets the forward progress point.

He was probably concussed and he still would have thrown the TD if the ball weren’t tipped.
It's ironic that that interception was on a ball that was fine to have thrown while the non-interceptions were on godawful throws.

Next week is an absolute must win before in Buffalo prime time.

WELL, we aren’t as bad as the saints. There’s that fellas.

We need some wholesale changes: the culprits know where they are. But we'll see if Vrabel is watching the same players.

fair enough.

We'll know a lot more after we play for another month.

and so are CAR, TEN and NO.
We will play more terrible teams.

Agreed. I've watched 60+ years of football. This was a frustrating loss. Statistically, we dominated on both sides of the ball but turnovers are the most important stat by far and we smoked ourselves in that category. Stevenson - what can we say? Is it that hard to learn to wrap both hands around the ball in traffic? Henderson does it and he's a rookie. Stevenson was carrying the ball in one hands prior to both of his fumbles. COACHING? I hope no one here was thinking this team had a shot at the super bowl this year. What we've seen through three games is about what I think we should have expected. They are definitely better than they were the past two years - I still think they will win 7 or 8 games - but they still have a long ways to go. Maye looks like a stud though - he just has to learn when to hold and when to fold em (take a sack or throw the ball away) - COACHING. Coaching + time and another 2 or 3 pieces - a true #1 WR, maybe one more good OLineman, and maturity, and we'll have a playoff contender. Anyone not okay with that?

Why lol? Absolutely no one expects them to win, this is one game they can lose and no one would bat an eye. If anything, today was a must win just because the Steelers are so goddamn bad.

Edit - Wait nvm, I misread your post. Whoops.

Vrabel's moment is here. What will he tolerate? Is he a players coach? Does he stand by his own words to the players?
  • Team First:
Vrabel expects players to put the team's needs above their own, fostering an environment of selflessness and shared goals.

  • Earn the Right:
He stresses that players and coaches will "earn the right to be here every day," removing any sense of entitlement from the team.

  • Consistency:
Building a strong identity is critical, and Vrabel emphasizes the need for consistent effort and execution to establish that identity.
On-Field Philosophy
  • Know What to Do & Play Fast:
Vrabel wants his players to understand their roles and execute them quickly and aggressively on every play.

  • Precise Over Perfect:
He has encouraged players to focus on precise execution, especially when things are not going perfectly, rather than waiting for ideal conditions.

  • Make Great Decisions:
Vrabel highlights the importance of players making smart, decisive choices, particularly on critical downs and in game situations.
Responding to Adversity
  • Take a Few Punches:
Vrabel teaches the team to have the resilience to withstand tough moments, like bad plays or comebacks by opponents, and still be able to respond.

  • No Panic:
In the face of setbacks, he encourages a mindset of no panic, relying on training, fundamentals, and communication to get back on track.

  • Focus on the Next Play:
After a mistake or a negative play, the focus shifts immediately to executing the next down correctly.
