Vrabel is building his culture and his team. White has a role here i just think he needs to be locked in on one position that fits his skill set. Right now he's a rotational player. However if he's disgruntled then maybe he gets moved for a 5th?

White is an adequate backup. Even if doesn't get many reps, he is available for more if there is an injury.

White is one of four in this situation. Jennings, Dugger and Tavai are the others. All four could have continuing roles as valuable backups.
If they are willing, there is no reason to cut any of them just to replace them by a street free agent with little talent or experience.

As an aside, Tavai might even start over Elliss (who should be a backup ILB and a valuable STer).

White has all the tools by optics, but after a weird last year, he got pushed down the chart with the new FA's (and recent illness).
But, I think there's a definite place for him to fight for a meaningful role this year. I don't think we should give up on him yet.

But, if Ponder or even Swinson come on with equal production, then it could be the end of White after this 3rd year.

I can see that. I know Vrabel was talking about just finding a spot for him and allowing him to get comfortable in that role.

Trading anyone who is an adequate backup player for draft capital is usually foolish. It takes 3 or 4 third day picks to find a guy like that. Trades rarely net that much.

I was listening to Patriots Unfiltered and they said that White was in street clothes at practice sitting by himself. They were speculating that it was a respiratory thing. They doubted it was a personal issue otherwise he wouldn't be at the practice at all.

Remember when Jamie Collins had that mysterious illness he was out for a few weeks and loss weight too.. it's definitely going to take him time to get back to form. The good thing is he's is he back and available.

I don’t think he has a future as an Edge, I think his real utility is as a run stopping defensive end in 3 and 4 man fronts. He simply doesn’t have the quickness and variety of moves to play Edge. Just bull rushing on every down and not setting the edge on run plays will keep him from being effective.
