While this time of the year is a bit slow on the news end, every now and then a nugget comes out. Keion White, in an interview, said "I was training myself, I’m not going to lie... Now, I feel like I have a coach"

He goes on to praise Mike Smith for giving direction.

Now White is an interesting, polarizing player on this team. Some people here hold a lot of hope for him, some think his overpursuit and lack of discipline make him a bad player.

What're the hopes for White with this new staff? I have always been in the first category and very much believe a good coach is gonna do great things with him.

Thoughts?

I’d like to see a little more production on the field before he takes to the soapbox. After all, he did look “prepared” for the first 3 games last year. Oh yeah, I don’t expect an exchange of “Christmas Cards” with his old coach this year for sure….

Every player who was here last year merits a mulligan. That said, it's put up or shut up now

I'm a fan but yeah even without these comments he still needs to get to that next level.

He would have been best served if he kept his mouth shut but whatever.

He better have a good year. Needs to back up his blame.
He is allowed to speak his mind. There is no point in sugar coating the Mayo rain.

He's been talking a lot since last season. He got the new coaches that he wanted, so he'll have to back up his talk and start producing and not disappearing like he did after week 2.

To be clear, I never said he couldn't speak his mind.

Now that he did, he is accountable for what he speaks.

If he sucks this year, his credibility is ****.

Mayo and some of the coaches were sub-standard but there were players like Gonzo who had very good years despite them.

Let's hope White was a victim of poor utilization and he isn't just failing to take accountability for his disappearing act.

He can blame whoever he wants to blame for his production last year but at the end of the day, all that matters is results. Great, he has a coach now. Sure hope it leads to results on the field.

I've been criticizing him since his rookie year where he played along side Barmore's standout season, but White was pretty invisible under Bill. He doesn't seem to have a repertoire of rush moves and teams were able to catch on after week 2 when his disappearance happened. He's now got Barmore back and the additions Williams and Landry. If he can't get it together at this point, he is what he is.

I never said you did.

Agree. He hasn't established himself. He is in Year 3. Now or never IMO.

I remember him saying something like this at one point last season, I remember thinking what a comment by a player on his current coaching staff.

Well, if dude has a good year it speaks volumes

White isn't a dominant pass rusher. But he was the patriots best pass rusher last year. This year he will be 3rd or 4th. I expect a breakout season

Its best not to throw former coaches under the bus. It can come back to bite you.
